Impressive

I've been working with coughdrop for 2 weeks now. I was a little confused about what settings to use at first but after a little experimenting and playing around with it, I'm feeling quite confident. We were with another more expensive app for about 8 years. I was drawn to this app because of it's cloud platform. I also like the way this developer talks about the people who use this app and need it for their voice. There are some expenses to get started with this app but they currently have a 2 month trial period. Plenty of time to see if it's a good fit for you! I thought it would have less features than a fancier app but I was surprised to find some hidden features like a search function to find a button on your board that also shows you the path of how to get there. Also the ability to use custom colors was easier than expected. Simply look up rgb codes online and use the rgb format for example adverb border rgb(131, 93, 56) fill rgb(255, 255, 255)

Communication should not be behind a paywall

You should never have to pay to be able to communicate with others.

Constant Reloading

CoughDrop is great on my laptop, but on my phone it keeps crashing and reloads every few seconds. It takes 5 minutes to say a six word sentence (not exaggeration; I watched a clock). I’ve tried all the troubleshooting methods listed (turning off Bluetooth, cleaning the cache, etc.). Nothing works.

The only two things left that I can think of are 1) getting a tablet (I’m wondering if there’s just too much on the phone and it’s getting overloaded?) or 2) pay for premium and hope that fixes it (it never acted up like this during the free trial and I’ve just been putting up with the reduced functions of not-premium usage, which has gradually led into the constant reloading problem).

I love the way it can be personalized and edited to fit my needs, but it’s completely unusable on my phone.

Decent app

I thought this app was glitchy at first but changed my opinion later because i just was struggling with tablet related things. Only issue I have is occasional glitches but there barely is any unless you have gifs on your board

Fix this app

This is the most glitchy and unusable app I’ve ever had. I was trying to make a board for therapy and if I even briefly type a bit too fast it crashes and then I have to do everything all over again. I would not recommend this app until they fix it.

Confusing

The system is very frustrating to figure out to use with my client. It doesn’t upload boards, allow my student to stay on a page without accessing the edit page, and I don’t get questions answered.

Trial Run

Doing a trial run. We’ve been doing this not even 5 hours and the app has frozen multiple times. Won’t save. Multiple errors. No way this is worth $250!

Too fast

The speech is way to fast, even to the point that it is hard to know what it has said. That being said , the app itself is easy to use. This won’t be the app that I will be using for my son due to the fast speech and the inability to model speech.

Love this app

We needed an AAC program that would work on the kindle fire. We love coughdrop and use it on iPhone, android phone, and kindle fire. This program provides a free two month trial but we upgraded early to get access to child voices 🥰

Too Fast & No Enunciation

The app is promising; however, I wish there was a way to slow down the speech. It is said so fast it is not adequate for modeling or usage to young nonverbal children.

Great communication app!

The model of having a free communication app with subscriptions for a user rather than per device is the best! I am an elementary special education teacher for students with autism. I have been using this app with my classroom this year with 7 students who have limited or no verbal communication. I am thrilled with having this tool to use and love how easily I can make updates for my students on my device (computer, phone, or iPad) and it updates on their device. My favorite part is that all of our support staff and myself can have the app on our own devices so we can model, practice, and find words without needing to take the device from the student. The developers have been very helpful when I need help.
I have been recommending it to all of our staff!

Great for using across devices

I used this with my 5 year old who is nonverbal on an iPad mini 4. Overall, it is nice to have across devices should she need a back up. It’s also great for modeling and having her team at school and I sync up easily. It’s pretty user friendly and their customer support is amazing. The app itself sometimes freezes or lags way behind which causes frustration.

A good robust AAC system

CoughDrop is a good robust AAC system with the ability to easily print out your pages so that you have a low tech backup.

Not intuitive

For some reason, when I click the “other” button in Core 112, it goes to reptiles, which is just very confusing. I think I might prefer Proloquo2go.

Easy to use, not so easy to edit

I love this app. It has given me a consistent system for communication. It is easy to use, unfortunately editing is more challenging than other apps. I don’t have to use too many types of communication, I can use one.

Most flexible system for situations

CoughDrop has allowed my students and clients to have a voice, in very unique ways. It’s incredibly flexible allowing us to support a variety of needs and support them wherever they are, and collect data that we can’t with other systems!

We love this AAC app!

My son has been using this app for 3 years now and it has been fantastic! Being able to cloud it to any device means be is never without his voice! Customer support has always been amazing and goes above and beyond! We are so thankful for this app as it has given our son a way to communicate with us and express himself! ❤️

Not user friendly

This works if you don’t make changes to it. Half of the time the changes I make on either the computer or iPad do not stay changed.
With it only doing a few features it should be a lot easier to navigate.
I don’t want to trouble shoot it or watch hours of videos to figure out why it isn’t working.
Surely there’s got to be something better. Keep looking unless you have a therapist that’s well versed in making changes I wouldn’t bother with this.
