Sorry to hear that, I went for a more aesthetic look for the results, but as you suggest I can add a setting to display them in a compact format. Unfortunately Google have deprecated the ad banners that the app uses and replaced them with the larger banners, I hope they see sense and keep the old format. You can remove the ad by making a small one off payment (no subscriptions here!). The thesaurus search goes 2 levels deep, the 1st level returns closely related words and then a second search is performed on each of those words. I'll take a look at the algorithm again, it's a trade-off of keeping the app simple but functional. The main word list is over 300K words and is compiled from many sources whereas the definitions and thesaurus are provided by WordNet which has 100k words. I do manually add definitions when users send in new words but it's a Sisyphean task! There are a few other open source dictionaries that are on my to-do list to research, but with each update the words lists and dictionaries do improve.
