Crownwise: Tree Risk Reports

Crownwise is a field tool for qualified tree risk assessors. Record a Level 2 assessment on site, and leave with the report already written. WRITTEN ON SITE, NOT AT THE KITCHEN TABLE A Level 2 assessment is thirty minutes of looking and two hours of typing. Crownwise removes the second part. You record each tree, judge the parts and targets you can see, and the report assembles itself as you go. HOW IT WORKS 1. Start an assessment with the client, site and scope. 2. Add each tree: species, location, site conditions, health and structure. 3. For every part that could fail, record the target it could strike and judge the three inputs — likelihood of failure, likelihood of impacting the target, consequences of failure. 4. The rating appears immediately, with the matrix on screen so you can see where it came from. 5. Generate the report and send it before you get back to the truck. THE REPORT • Your letterhead: name, credentials, certification number and expiry • Your signature, drawn once and printed on every report • A summary table of every tree with its overall rating • Per part: the three inputs, the derived rating, and the matrix reproduced with your cell marked • Recommended work and timeframe • Assumptions and limiting conditions A rating whose derivation is invisible is not defensible.
