Crumbly Photos

Stupidly simple photo app that just displays photos or videos from an iCloud shared album as a slide show. Developed for my Mum who has Dementia and although she loves looking at family photos, she is easily confused by buttons or gestures. This app only supports limited gestures and these can be disabled in settings - this is to avoid the (elderly) user accidentally stopping the slideshow. Anyone with access to the shared album can add photos or videos and the app checks every 60 seconds and any new content is immediately displayed. If there is an unreliable network - as in my Mums care home - the app caches photo's (and videos) locally and displays these until network back on-line. You can also annotate photos by using long-key press (5 seconds) which surfaces textbox. Text is stored in iCloud and will be visible to anyone with access to the shared album. The long key press is to avoid my Mum accidentally surfacing this feature and then getting confused... For users who randomly press buttons, it is further recommended to run the app in guided mode (See settings->accessibility->Guided Access) Lastly, this app is completely free (and no distracting ads) but if you find it useful, consider donating to Alzheimer's or Dementia UK via the links in the settings page.
