Take a note before you forget

When you have an idea, how fast can you record it into a browsable searchable retrievable archive ? Memo to self before the idea or notion is no longer on the tip of your tongue. I have the physical one-button Crush recorder, but this iPhone app is a close second in immediate ‘jot this down before I become distracted’ reliability. The minimalist online cloud backup is super easy to navigate when looking ‘what was that thing I was thinking about but don’t remember?’.
Only downsides (1) app periodically logs me out and forgets all credentials; need an option to permanently remember to remember me and (2) what is that app and where is it ? Searching for crush returns more dating apps and spammy candy crushing games before getting to this memory aide. Needs SEO.

Crush: Click-Record-Remeber

CRUSH has been a life-changing device in both my personal and professional life. It helps me remember important tasks and share updates with my team. The shared folders feature makes it easy to upload images, share notes and keep everything organized. It’s also great for staying on top of small tasks that can easily get overlooked in a busy environment.

On the personal side, CRUSH helps me manage my kids’ school events and appointments. I also use it to save important dates from school handouts, cutting down on paper clutter and keeping things organized at home.

An added bonus is using CRUSH to track my meals. I can quickly log what I eat with a simple click and stay on top of my calories. It’s made my life more organized, and productive.

Very good but wish it was great

I really want to love this app. I think the idea is amazing. I wish the transcriptions were better. I often have to correct words. It does not detect commas or periods, I must dictate when to add them, killing flow of thought. Hope this app improves significantly but it’s not quite there yet.

Folder system stopped working

I was fairly pleased with my CRUSH recorder until this week. The folder system stopped working. I can’t move any of my notes into any folders no matter what method I use.

Excellent Aide Memoire App

This is a really useful app, helping me to organise my life properly. CRUSH it!

Capturing memories and managing work

I’m putting together a book about my grandma‘s life and Crush has been great for capturing and transcribing our conversations seamlessly. The one tap recording and automatic transcription allow me to stay present without missing details. It’s also a huge help at work. It’s been so easy to organize notes, review meeting highlights and find what I need really fast. Overall, it’s made handling both personal and work tasks much smoother.

Watch app needs some work

I love the concept of this and can really find a lot of use cases for it. I paid for the Apple Watch app as I missed out on the pre-release pricing for the crush device :(

If feels this watch app was released a tad prematurely and could benefit from more thorough feature and post deployment testing. The Watch app seems to randomly stop recording (shows “checking subscription” in the middle of my recording and then returns to the white button as if the recording stopped even when my phone is on a stable wifi connection). It’s buggy when you try accessing the watch app from the complication and don’t have the subscription (it gets stuck showing the watch is listening to you and you can’t get it to stop). 10+ minute recordings while on the go were not captured in the app and not reliably able to be analyzed. I couldn’t replay the original recording, so, sadly…what I thought was recorded was lost. Unfortunately I just need something more reliable. I would recommend the developers test this on a variety of cellular networks while on the go and give the watch app more attention. It would also be nice to be able to access voice recordings on the watch app eventually.

As for the phone app, when I tried it before the most recent update, I couldn’t move recordings into folders after they were recorded (but maybe this has been addressed already). When recording from the phone, the transcriptions have been good, summaries are helpful, and the chat with notes feature is a nice to have. (I haven’t tested long recordings via the phone app yet though.)

I think there’s a lot of promise for this app/service but could use more robust testing. I look forward to more detailed app release notes that provide more detail than just “bug fixes” to know whether this will be worth trying out again (esp. for the Watch app!!). I believe best use case for this, from what I can tell so far, is for short recordings on a stable wifi connection. (I do not have a dedicated crush device to use with the app yet and also look forward to seeing how those work with the app later.)

Response from developer

Hi Boopysnella, did you purchase the Watch App connection, or are you trying to use the Watch without the one-time charge? Also, moving notes into folders can be done in two ways: manually by choosing the Add to Folder button, or when recording a note by saying "Folder [your folder name..." at the beginning. There have been a few updates since you first downloaded, and I'd be interested to know your experience since then. Also, please reach out directly to me for anything. My team and I enjoy all conversations and feedback. I'm at erik at crushthememory dot com. - Erik, Founder, CRUSHer#1
