App won’t open

Read other reviews and I’m glad it didn’t open properly…wouldn’t want my info tracked

Response from developer

Everyone has the option to either allow or deny access to tracking through apple’s new security features. Our ad provider then uses that info to show better ads (which can be turned off). As for not launching, we kindly suggest deleting and reinstalling. We have not been able to reproduce the bug from your description.

Not worth it

After playing several games I decided to buy the ad-free version for 4.99. Disappointed to then find out that only buys a “starter pack” of 15 games, most of which I had already completed in the free version. You have to pay more for additional games.

Response from developer

There are thousand of puzzles available for sale and they can be played with ads on, or you can buy the “ads off” IAP to remove ads. The “ads off” purchase does not include extra puzzles. Thanks for playing and please contact us if you have more issues.

Clunky to use

For a game that really only has 1 function (to switch out letters), the alphabet is clunky to use? Takes several swipes to get from A to Z, and letters tossed back don’t go back in order. Or they do? It varies. Which makes them a pain to find. Seems like it would be an easy fix to make whole alphabet visible at once, or at least scroll smoothly from side to side. Also - puzzles missing correct punctuation.

Response from developer

Thanks for trying the game. Competitor games might address your design suggestions. Our simple drag and drop design is preferred by our 10s of thousands of players. No high score, no timers, and lots of puzzles makes this a relaxing and fun brain game. However, we’re always looking to improve, so we’ll look into those bug reports.

Useless

Most if not all puzzles do not fit on screen in portrait mode and many not even in landscape mode. Update your app!

Response from developer

If you contact us and let us know what device you’re having trouble with we can look into it. We always respond quickly. 1-star reviews without details are suspicious when 10s of thousands of people are happily playing this game.

Not getting puzzles I paid for.

It’s a great game. I’m not buying any more puzzle packs though. I paid for one and it’s not letting me acces it. I have the receipt to prove it. Update: The support team responded quickly and rectified the issue.

Just ok

The app takes over your ability to play music on your phone or even thru a Bluetooth speaker. Stupid oversight on makers part. Also the font size of the blocks you fill in are tiny compared to the letter size at the bottom of the screen. Clearly an app designed by an amateur

Response from developer

We’re glad you enjoyed our app enough that you thought to reach out and make suggestions for improvement. We always aim to integrate feedback, and are glad you are enjoying the game, even a little. The next version will be even better.

The letters are too faint

Please help those of us who play on our phones, the letters are too tiny and faint. I simply can’t play cause I can’t make them out. Larger font or the option to change the background would really help.

Fake Crytogame

A cryptogram lure just for advertising. Gawh.

Response from developer

The game is entirely free, and supported by ads. Users who want to play the game without ads have the option of turning them off through In app Purchase. Thousands have downloaded and enjoyed this game, both with and without ads.

Just what I wanted

Just what I was looking for, an app with the witty cryptograms I used to do in the paper. Just too many bugs. I have to exit out and re-enter the app after completing every puzzle.

Response from developer

We've made some changes and bug fixes that should improve your experience. Try the new version!

Fun

Great fun BUT hard to use. Letters are positioned so it's hard to manipulate on phone. But great time stealer.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. We made some layout changes to work better on all devices in the recent update. We moved up the letter row on the bottom a little to make it easier to use.

Entertaining app

It is fun but probably too easy, even the harder games can be solved in a couple of minutes; but even though, it is a good brain warm up.

Enjoyable

If you like this type of puzzle, this app is great. No bugs, variety of statements, difficulty, etc. I would be cool to compare times with others.

No letters.

There are no letters to insert in the squares.

Response from developer

Try the new update. There was an orientation bug in September we fixed.

Update problems

The September revision no longer works on my iPad. The puzzle shows up, but not the letters along the bottom or the settings buttons.

Quiptoquip

This game doesn't always work. Sometimes the whole alphabet is not shown to choose from. Consequently you cannot complete the puzzle.

Response from developer

The game automatically removes letters from the alphabet once they've been placed in the puzzle. To use a letter you've already placed simply tap and drag it off the and it will go back to the alphabet. If you're referring to something different, try the new update. Things are better than ever.

Too Iffy

Too many misspellings, plus some puzzles have letters that are not coded, so, for example, T equals T.

Response from developer

While we try to eliminate all spelling errors, early versions may have still had a handful. We do explicitly allow a letter to be it's own cipher.

Clumsy

Puzzles OK, but moving letters into position is a clumsy move. This needs a keyboard or a tap technique as used in other puzzle formats

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. When making this game we wanted a gaming experience that was immersive and engaging. Other cryptoquip apps do use a keyboard and tap mechanic, but we think those games are unable to achieve the immersive and intuitive experience we are able to using the drag mechanic. Thousands of people enjoy the drag mechanic, now better than ever in the 2019 update!

Disappointed....

Game works fine, but just one set of puzzles is awful limiting. And apparently you can only do them once. I was expecting to be able to work a daily puzzle with the app. Won't support that. Disappointed.

Response from developer

Glad you enjoyed the game. There are thousands of puzzles available for in app purchase. Just tap the settings button and then visit the levels screen to see all the available packs.

Love the game hate the color

I love crypto quip from the newspaper...that's how I got started. But, the light blue squares at the top of the page, especially, are too light. Also, it would be nice to have funny sayings/quotes/play on words, etc. Still, crypto quip is fun!

Too small

The letters are too small and uneasy to drag.
