It is decent and it’s stable.
It comes with usable effects. I use it regularly. It’s better than logic in the sense that it does not have flashback recording. I hate that about logic. It’s better than Zenbeats in that you do not need a midi controller to record plugin automations. It pales to logic because you can’t save plugin chains. It pales to Zenbeats because it does not have vca fading inline for midi file. It has fading but it is velocity based so it is choppy. Also the fades do not allow sinusoidal curves. The audio editor is very rudimentary. All in all it is solid and updated fairly often. There is no way to route midi notes to audio effects that I have been able figure out so you cannot use vocoder effect and vocal effects such as BLEASS voices as intended. It may have to do with plugin pins but you cannot use vocoder do it in logic. However because of its ease of use and solidity it is my go to.

Please integrate Splice or make it work!
I make music on the go in my work truck. I spent an entire day installing all my iOS music apps on my iPad, including the Splice app. I use a lot of samples in my music… it is integral to me using Cubasis. Well… when Cubasis is open, Splice makes no sound. I don’t want to have to close Cubasis to hear Splice or vice versa. I need to hear the beat playing so I can determine what sounds I want to sample. This is such a workflow killer for me… I understand it may not be entirely Steinberg’s fault, but whoever’s fault it is, I just want it to work how it should!

The Best DAW on IOS!!!
The closest thing to me, iOS has to Avid Protools for mobile! A professional, portable tool for sessions on the go! I have a couple requests though…. Can you please add aux bus tracks for sends and group inserts per track for the ability to send and record audio from one track to another, 2. the ability to drag n drop samples chromatically to the mini sampler to instantly spread across the keys, and 3. Track settings to save and recall vocal and effect chains. Outside of that a dedicated multi sampler chopper for chopping samples like a MPC to send to the pads! That’s It!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

For me, this is the best DAW on iOS. Would love to see the drum pattern editor and chord track added in the next big update, and maybe future in app purchases for lite versions of variaudio and groove agent.

Seriously. This is the best mobile studio out there hands down.
Stem exports out of sync
I have tried everything, including bouncing down everything to audio within Cubasis before exporting, and shifting all tracks up a few bars. I have disabled all plugins. No matter what I do, the tracks end up off time with each other when exporting stems. This is ridiculous. It’s been like this forever. There are complaints of this dating back before 2022, and nothing has been done. Steinberg needs to get their “stuff” together, putting it nicely!

but if they don’t say this app is fantastic but also real, then they are mistaken. for sketching this is faster and more intuitive than computer. multitrack with effects and automations… on your phone

Terrible even with iaps
This app is more geared towards generic producers and not electronic ones. It is very unintuitive and doesn’t always place loops accurately. The built in synths are limited and the fx very basic, including the iap ones. Bought halion thinking it would make a difference but it doesn’t. It’s limited in its ability and offers minimal tweaks. If you like a fast workflow this will dissapoint. Navigating this app is very tiresome. Better stick with garage band imho

Essential Piano Roll Improvements for Touch Workflow
While the overall quality of Cubasis 3 is excellent, the Piano Roll remains frustratingly tied to a desktop-PC workflow, making it inefficient for touch devices. I strongly request the following improvements:
Eliminate the "Length tool" bottleneck: Having to manually switch to the Length tool every time I want to adjust a note's duration is a major workflow killer. Like other modern DAWs, the app should allow both moving and length adjustment based on touch position (e.g., dragging the edges to change length, or the center to move) or long-press duration. If visual cues like color changes or icons indicated the edit state, the dedicated Length tool would become unnecessary.
Adaptive Grid Scaling: Please implement "Adaptive Grid" functionality where the grid resolution (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.) automatically follows horizontal pinch-to-zoom, similar to GarageBand and Logic Pro for iPad. This would make MIDI programming significantly faster and more intuitive.
Cubasis 3 excels in many other GUI aspects compared to its competitors. Improving these specific Piano Roll pain points would truly make it the definitive mobile DAW.

Very impressed
Having over the years tried just about all of the iPad-based DAWs it’s great to find one that actually works. I can record guitar directly, or can route it to Jam Origin’s Midi Guitar to reroute and record midi within Cubasis. Pretty stable - I suspect that the odd crashes are mostly due to 3rd party plugins, but the core product seems robust and highly capable.

Great DAW, but disappointed by the new guitar pedals
There’s a “feature” in the new guitar stomp boxes that kills all sound for about a second when activating a pedal sim. The devs say this is intentional and for realism, and that it can’t be changed despite plenty of devs having implemented something similar.
