About
Curio is an app for children aged 3 to 7: painting, drawing, numbers, letters and experiments to find out why things happen.
It is made for one specific moment: someone is cooking and a child needs something to do. It has to solve that moment without leaving a debt: no negotiating to turn it off afterwards, and the child does not come out worse than they went in.
WHAT IS INSIDE
Paint. Line-art pictures to fill with color, with the bucket or the brush. The brush stays locked inside the part where the child put their finger, so the color does not spill from one part to the next: the same help that the thick edges of a coloring book give.
Draw. A blank page, stamps, backgrounds and a tracing mode with a guide.
Numbers. Eleven games: counting, how many, more and less, patterns, shapes, adding, taking away, groups, tens and ones, and column adding and subtracting, step by step.
Letters. Ten games: what it starts with and what it ends with, find the picture, clap the syllables, build the word, trace each letter along the right path, write, guess, read, and opposites. With their own English words and syllables.
Spanish. A word, a picture and the voice: listen and tap, how do you say it, what does it mean. With the app in Spanish, it teaches English.
Discover. Twelve experiments. A story tells what happened —the plant by the window grew, the one in the closet did not— and the child picks which of three explanations the facts support. Nothing to know beforehand: you have to look.
HOW IT IS BUILT
No clock. No streaks, lives, countdowns or prizes that are lost if you do not come back tomorrow. Rounds end: five or eight exercises, a little celebration, and that is it.
You cannot lose. A wrong answer wobbles a little and stays: no bad sound, no red cross, no error counter. After three tries a hint appears by itself, so nobody gets stuck.
Usable without reading. Every button, every color and every part of a picture is read aloud. A three-year-old can open it, choose and paint without anyone reading for them.
It saves by itself. There is no save button. Everything the child makes stays in their gallery, on the device.
Two ages. The games adapt: 3 to 5 and 5 to 7. The content changes, never the way it is used.
NO FINE PRINT
No advertising of any kind.
One optional purchase: Curio Complete, a one-time payment that opens everything forever. No subscriptions. Part of the app is free forever, and the first seven days everything is open.
No accounts or sign-up: we ask for no data.
No internet: it works entirely in airplane mode.
No personal information is collected. Nothing leaves the device.
The settings, the purchase and deleting drawings are behind a question a young child cannot answer.
In English and Spanish: it starts in the language of the phone.
Made in Argentina.
