What's New in CyberDeck for Companion

2.2

July 7, 2026

2.2 redesigns how CyberDeck shows and manages your connection. - Connection status moved from the bottom bar to a rail at the top of the screen: name, address, and live state always visible. A one-time callout points you to its new home after the update. - No more dead ends. Every connection failure now offers a next step: retry, edit the connection, or switch to another. - The screen stays awake while connected, so the surface doesn't go dark mid-show. Settings > Keep Screen Awake turns it off. - Dark is now the default theme. Light and System are still in Settings > Theme. - Sharper button images on iPad. - Restore Purchases now finds v1 grandfathered unlocks more reliably. - Connection editor cleanup: setup goes straight to the editor, and the port field moved behind Advanced (the default almost always works).

Latest Companion Version 3.1.2

App will not work with a computer running anything newer than Companion 3.1.2.

Response from developer

Sorry about the silence. You were right, the old version stopped working past Companion 3.1.2. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. The big change is that it no longer reads Companion's config file. Instead, the app talks to Companion directly over the network, so it works with current Companion versions, and future Companion updates shouldn't break it the way 3.2+ did. If it's still not working, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com. Jeffrey

Doesn’t work

Tried uploading the configuration but that failed. Says it’s connected but it doesn’t show the buttons. I assume it’s a version problem. Documentation is not obvious if it exists.

Response from developer

You're not wrong, the import flow and the documentation were both real pain points in the old version. Sorry for the trouble. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. The new version doesn't import a config file at all. It talks to Companion directly over the network, so the "connected but no buttons" state should be fixed. If anything is still off, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com and I'll help you sort it out. Jeffrey

Hello? Anyone there?

Are we going to get any support for new versions? What’s the deal?

Response from developer

Yes, and sorry for going silent on you. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store, a full rewrite. It talks to Companion directly over the network instead of reading the config file, so it works with current Companion versions and shouldn't get tripped up by future Companion changes either. Jeffrey

Not working

I’m having no luck getting this to work. App shows as connected but. No buttons show up

Response from developer

Following up on my 2024 reply, sorry it took this long. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. It no longer relies on importing the config file at all. The app talks to Companion directly over the network, so the "connected but no buttons" state you ran into should be fixed. If you try v2.0 and anything still isn't working, please don't hesitate to reach out. Jeffrey

Doesn’t work with current companion

Don’t purchase if you’re using any companion 3.2 or higher. This app needs to be removed.

Response from developer

You were right about the old version, sorry it stayed broken for so long. It read Companion's config file, and that broke every time Companion changed its format. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store, and it talks to Companion directly over the network instead. So it works with current Companion versions, and it shouldn't break the next time Companion updates. If you give v2.0 a try and anything is still off, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com. Jeffrey
