FAQ
What is Cymatic?
Cymatic is a digital Chladni plate that simulates sand reacting to sound vibrations to reveal standing wave patterns. It's designed to be a calming and educational experience.
How does Cymatic work?
The app uses real physics principles, simulating thousands of sand grains that move away from vibrating areas and collect along nodal lines. Each pattern is an emergent picture of a standing wave.
Can I interact with the patterns in Cymatic?
Yes, you can tap the plate to retune it and create new patterns, adjust the intensity of the vibration for sharper or softer lines, and even hear the exact tone producing the visual.
Is Cymatic suitable for children?
Cymatic is rated for ages 4 and up, making it suitable for children to explore basic physics concepts in an engaging way. It's designed to be a quiet and beautiful object for fidgeting or observation.
Does Cymatic collect any user data?
No, Cymatic is private by default. It does not collect any data, analytics, or tracking information, and requires no accounts or network connection. All computations happen on your device.
Is Cymatic free to use?
Yes, Cymatic is completely free to download and use. It does not contain any advertisements or in-app purchases.
What devices does Cymatic support?
Cymatic is available for iPhone and iPad, allowing users to experience the physics simulation on their mobile devices.
How often is Cymatic updated?
Cymatic was first released on June 10, 2026, with version 1.0. Future updates will depend on user feedback and developer plans.
