FAQ
How does Dad Finder work?
Dad Finder uses your phone's sensors to create a compass that points towards a designated person's device. You install it on the traveling person's phone and then link it to the phones at home using a Device ID. The compass then shows the direction and distance to that person.
Is Dad Finder private?
Yes, Dad Finder is designed with privacy in mind. It requires no sign-up, email, or access to your contact list. It only shows direction and distance, not a map of movements, and all location data is transmitted over encrypted connections.
What are the benefits of Dad Finder Premium?
Dad Finder Premium offers automatic background updates for real-time position tracking, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for quick glances, and an Apple Watch app. It also allows syncing to multiple devices. Premium is required for the traveling phone to update its position automatically.
Can I use Dad Finder for someone other than my dad?
Absolutely. You can rename 'Dad' to 'Mom', 'Grandpa', or any other loved one you wish to track. The app is designed to connect families, regardless of the specific relationship.
What devices does Dad Finder support?
Dad Finder is available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The Premium subscription includes features for these devices, such as the Apple Watch app and complications.
How often does the free version update?
In the free version of Dad Finder, the traveling phone updates its position once a day when the app is opened. For more frequent or automatic updates, the Premium subscription is required.
What is the Dad Compass?
The Dad Compass is a physical, handcrafted desk compass that connects via WiFi and always points to you without needing a phone on the recipient's side. It includes two years of Premium service and can be ordered from within the app.
How do I cancel my Dad Finder subscription?
Subscriptions can be managed or canceled at any time through your Apple Account settings. To avoid automatic renewal, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.
