About

Daily Orthodox Offices is a quiet companion for the Eastern Orthodox cycle of prayer — the canonical hours kept by the Church through the day and night. A living 24-hour dial shows the present hour at a glance, with the current office lit in gold and a slow hand sweeping through the day. Tap an office to read its commemoration and a short prayer — or tap "Pray this Hour" to read the service itself. THE SERVICES Each office includes an abbreviated form intended for lay reading, following the Russian usage: - The usual beginning, in the reader's form — for praying without a priest - The psalms appointed to the hour, by their Septuagint numbering - The troparia and Theotokia of the hour - The prayer of the hour, in full - Quiet rubrics marking what is said, and what is read A follow-along outline of the Divine Liturgy is included as well, offered so that the faithful may prepare. The Liturgy is served by a priest in the church and is not read at home. THE EIGHT OFFICES - Vespers - Compline - Midnight Office - Matins / Orthros - First Hour - Third Hour - Sixth Hour - Ninth Hour …and the Divine Liturgy. FEATURES - A 24-hour horologion dial showing the office of the present hour - The abbreviated service for each of the eight offices - Commemoration and prayer for every hour - Optional Orthodox chant and an hourly bell you can turn on or off - Gentle reminders at the start of each office - A calm, reverent design drawn from traditional iconography - Works fully offline — no account, no advertising, no tracking Liturgical texts are drawn from public-domain sources and are offered as an aid to prayer, not as a substitute for the services of the Church or the guidance of your priest. Daily Orthodox Offices requires no internet connection and collects no personal data. It is a simple help: to know the hour, to pause, and to keep the daily cycle wherever you are.
