App completely broken

For years wanted to try on my ipad, but reviews were always concerning. Finally bought it. Huge mistake. The app goes completely dark (no pun intended) after I select the difficulty level for the campaign, black screen, nothing happens!

Bugged on new iPad

Black screen after choosing difficulty setting with a new game. The music plays but nothing loads. Reinstalling did not change this. Choosing to connect or not connect after reinstalling did not change this. Unacceptable for a premium game.

Best game on iPad period

1000+ hours in total. Absolutely brilliant. Top port, excellent game has all features that is provided on console and pc.
Best game played on iPad bar none. Hopefully dd2 will come on iPad at some point 👍👍👍

Broken mechanics on old port.

What can I say? The resolution is sad, the letterbox is terrible, and you can't rename characters. It actually breaks the game when you try.

Not loading

The game will load to the main menu. After selecting a game difficulty (radiant, etc) the game will not load past a black screen. Currently trouble shooting hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

Brutal!

This game is dark, unforgiving and brutal! Just what I was promised!

RPG Killer

The art is great, the battles are challenging, and you cannot play this game without enjoying real risk and learning the system. I love the dark and dreary look of it, so much better than the mass of games out there.

Broken

The app doesnt work in ios 26 on my ipad. Go somewhere else for a working game. Launches, but campaigns never load

2026 Still unplayable

Love the game on PC. Unplayable on mobile.

This is no place for the weak or the foolhardy

Another soul battered and broken, cast aside like a spent torch. Those without stomach for this place must move on. I remember days when the sun shone, and laughter could be heard from the tavern. The poor caretaker, I fear his long standing duty here has affected him.

To fight the abyss… one must to know it. What better laboratory than a blood-soaked battlefield?

Great heroes can be found even here – in the mud and rain. Word is travelling – ambition is stirring in distant cities – we can use this. In the end every plan relies upon a strong arm and tempered steel; a sharper sword, a stronger shield – anything to prolong a soldier’s life.

The frontline of this war is not in the dungeon, but rather inside the mind. The human mind… fragile, like a robin’s egg. Madness… our old friend. Fear and frailty finally claim their due. Survival is a tenuous proposition in this sprawling tomb.

Yet even here, a moment of valour shines brightest against the backdrop of despair. Room by room, hall by hall, we reclaim what is ours. Driving out corruption is an endless battle, but one that must be fought.

And this day… belongs to the light.

So glad it’s on iOS, but…

Last update seems to have been three years ago. Touch controls work fine but nowadays, there’s no reason not to have controller support. Would love to see that in the future update.

Does not seem to work on new iPads

I bought this game for my iPad as I had enjoyed it on PC. However, every time you try to launch a new game it just goes to a black screen and music. No game. So, not only not worth it, but thoroughly broken.

Same as PC

Bought this game on steam years ago and I’m happy to say that this plays exactly like the PC version. So happy to have it on an app now too, top notch gameplay and love it to bits.

Can't start save

Can't get past new save creation screen, game gives black screen

Won’t load

I have this game on PC and thought it would be a great game to play in between classes. Unfortunately it wont load past the menu so I can not play anything. I’d be happy to change the review if this was fixed. I am on an iPad Air 5th gen so I don’t have old hardware. Kinda disappointed because i bought the game and all the DLC for it to not work.

Text too small

Beautiful, but unplayable, because GUI / game text is too small. Please fix.

Unplayable game

The item and skill descriptions Dont show up. Can’t play the game because of this. What a waste.

Horror RPG classic

this is a game that definitely holds its own. It can be replayed again and again. Compared to the bulk of “apps” Darkest Dungeon is leagues ahead. Fantastic original artwork, story, and unique characters make for a great party, dungeon crawling experience

Works and nice on mobile, small glitches

Love the game on mobile as it plays fine, and have beaten the game multiple times on pc/console. Two areas however, does annoy me and that I wish developers would fix. This is the black side borders. They are so annoying and cut out so much detail on the sides. Second, is the small text and hovering over details such as the DoTs. Sometimes it works, other times it just never pulls up. Sadly it doesn’t look like the developers care to ever address these, as the last update is years ago =(
