Tried it for my 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD. Wasted 5 dollars

This app asks to drop in your "TeslaCam" folder, and when you do, it crashes "quit unexpectedly"... each time no matter which folder I select

Response from developer

Hi, I’ve completely redesigned the app. It should address this issue and added a bunch of features. Thanks!

Great tool! to easily navigate videos

Nice tool to navigate videoes. Works well on Ventura.

Just does not work

Plain and simple, it will not play back videos from a Tesla. Waste of money.

Stopped working, crashes when opening folder

Update: used to work okay, but now it crashes as soon as you drag the TeslaCam folder in.

---

Not sure what's going on but this player will play back videos from different times along side one another. This is pretty disorienting and limits the usefulness of the app when it happens. It also freezes up for about 15 seconds when I switch from Recent to Saved clips.

It would be great to see some UI improvements in the future, including more options for the playback speed, faster UI overall, and a readout of the time of recording of the clip being played. It would also be nice to have a more standard UI where the controls aren't so giant.

In any case, this app makes reviewing Tesla Cam footage much easier. You can do a similar thing with ffmpeg for free, but the time savings are well worth the $5.

Waste of Money

I bought this to view and save a dashcam video of a traffic stop on my computer. While it does open and play the sentry video, there is no intuitive way to save the entire video (just portions of the clips) and the help feature does not work. Wish I could get my money back as this product was useless.

Hmmm

Ok I think get what you mean now
Yours compiles all of them together so I can scrub through where I have to select each event with that free browser app. Just the folder structure on the left doesn't work unless I upgrade to Mojave? So the only issue with the High Sierra is there is no list under the folders?
That changes things bit and makes it certainly worth keeping, rating upgraded, But one thing I noticed is the rear camera view is frozen? I double checked same footage with that Browser app viewer and its fine there. Thank for the support.

Please use the help menu for tech support. Giving support through app reviews is very slow since there's a huge delay of when your review is updated and when I get notified of the update.

Works ok. Needs rear camera support

Thank you for supporting the rear camera.

Super easy to use!

Response from developer

Version 3.0.0 is now out supporting all camera views.

Nice update

Developer responsive to suggetions. The app has mature greatly from it's first version. Nice work. Highly recommended.

Terrific Update

This is an amazing update. I had uninstalled the previous version as the functionality and feature support was subpar compared to some other non-app options I found. I'm glad I gave it another chance because the update has addressed every issue I had with the previous version. It's really easy and efficient now to navigate the relevant folders and scrub through the video from all the cameras.

Thank you so much for updating TeslaCam Browser. It'll save me many frustrating hours scrubbing through the 512GB of stored video on my SSD drive to find the relevant clips. There is one enhancement I would love to see--a dark mode if you have time!

Way too cool

This version really takes the app to a new level. The addition of the rear camera is obviously a big deal. Navigation is much simpler along with the ability to either play at 1x, 2x or 5x speed or to simply scrub thru. The time display makes it absurdly easy to find an exact point in time in the inevitable search for "who did this". I use a JedaHub and Samsung T5 SSD in my Model 3 and this is the perfect adjunct to review the collected data.

Promising but needs to be updated to support rear camera in V10

This is a great app and easy to use and I can see that the developer is adding features and fixing bugs, so thats great. With the advent of v10 there is a rear camera stream that is recorded and this app needs to be updated to show all 4 camera views. Also, there are now 3 sets of clips: “RecentClips” “SavedClips” and “SentryClips”. Please update!

Working on it!

Great concept.. iffy results

When this works it is great. But so often while navigating the videos get out of sync. If you skip ahead with the next button, often the center video will not skip. It lags and freezes a lot and takes forever to read. Sometimes it’s just easier to look at the raw video files.

Response from developer

Version 3.0.0 is now out. It should fix a lot of issues. Let me know if it doesn't (via e-mail through the help menu)

Does the job, but tough to use.

It does allow you to scrub through video, but the UI needs some help.

1. Trying to pick a specific date is cumbersome with the dropdown. The dates should be laid across the green timeline as intervals so that you can just click on the timeline. As it stands, the timeline is useless as it just has a total number of minutes of video.

2. It autoplays when you start, which would be ok, except that it locks up for a while until the UI finally catches up with your clicks. An hour of video seems to bog it down at startup for a good 10 seconds before the UI will finally respond.

3. Rather than waste so much space with giant play buttons and clips slider, I would overlay the controls on the video (like on a phone) so that you can have a bigger video.

tedious to navigate videos

This app shows promise but needs a lot of work to make it more easy to navigate to different collections of videos. There are usually 10 or so videos from a given timeframe, but if you click on one in the dropdown it forgets where you were at when you try to view the next video in the series. You have to start over from the top of the entire list of videos in the TeslaCam folder. The videos need to be grouped together.

Very Convenient and easy to use!

I'm new and did not get to see what the prior versions were like. But I can tell you, this works great!! I use a SD CARD instead of a slow USB Thumbdrive and my laptop is USB C so it is able to crunch a ton of video at the same time. The way that this caches the video at the start is awesome. It makes it easy to scrub through hundreds (it's probably thousands) of those little MP4 files in minutes. Thanks for creating this!

Nice Updates

The developer has been very prompt to respond to support requests and the latest version (v2.0.1) has continued to make nice UI and usability improvements. Please continue enhancing this as it's a very helpful tool in absence of a viewer built into the Tesla itself where it should be.

I like it!

2.0 is much smoother and runs well. I can't tell if the right repeater being out of sync is due to the car or the app. I've heard there are some bugs with the right repeater in the car but I don't know.

So, so much better than trying to navigate through the files, and this update is an excellent improvement.

Such a time-saver!

This app is a huge help and already saves me a ton of time scrubbing through the video clips. It's great that Tesla is now providing the side cameras, but syncing and previewing the video files in separate windows was quite a chore—this app is well worth its price for solving that headache, and it's clear that future features will make it even better.

It's OK...lots of rooms for improvements

The app is pretty basic and definitely not worth the price. It needs more features to justify the price. For now, all you can do is look at the 3 videos and skip back and forth but that's all. Scrubbing the time line is not stable and not responsive at all. There're plenty of rooms for improvements. I hope the developer will improve it. It's a good start.

Version 2.0.0 improves stability in scrubbing.

Great for a first version

Opened for me with no problems. Video plays well, and it’s great to see the three views simultaneously. Also great to see it move seamlessly from one file to the next, as if it’s a continuous video.

The only bug I’ve found is that fairly often the “clip timeline” stops advancing for a while, even though the clip is playing.

There’s no help or manual. One feature that it doesn’t yet have—or just isn’t well documented enough for me to find—is the ability to save a range of minutes to a single file. As far as I can tell, right now it saves the three views to a single file, but only one minute at a time.

Another feature that would be great to add would be a fast-forward to move rapidly through a clip.

But overall, a great start!
