About

Daybearing is a clock face for your day. Say what you are doing and how long you think it will take. Tasks fill the current hour as you go and turns as you run over — one glance, not a number to read. HOW IT WORKS Type what you want to get done, one task at a time. Tap Start. When you finish a task, tap Complete — and the next task begins. The dial is a real clock face, and your tasks sit on it where they will actually happen. See the plan for the next hour, any planned work beyond that is shown as you mark tasks complete. WHAT THE COLORS MEAN Orange means you are over your estimate but the task is still running — over, and still fixable. It turns red once you complete an overrunning task, because by then the overrun is a fact rather than a situation. The pace chip shows how far ahead or behind your plan you are, green for ahead, red for behind. Three minutes under reads as −3, in green, three minutes ahead of schedule. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO There is no pause. Daybearing shows your work against reality, and time doesn't stop. A timer you can stop measures how long you had it running, not how long the work took. If you need to stop working on something, Set Down ends the session, logs time for the part you actually did, and returns the remainder to the queue. There are no subtasks, tags, categories or statistics screens. No clutter, just what you need to stay on track. PRIVACY No account is required. Your tasks and history are stored locally on your iPhone. There is NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO IN-APP PURCHASE and NO ADVERTISING. You pay once. ALSO IN THE APP • A Live Activity for the running task — on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island, on supported Apple Watch and Mac configurations — with a Complete button on the Lock Screen, so you can finish without opening the app. • Lock Screen widgets: how far ahead or behind the day is, the task in hand, and what comes next. • Shortcut support! Ask Siri to start your next task, complete it, add one, or say how you are doing — for the moment your hands are already off the phone. • An optional chime when a task reaches its estimate. • Batch entry for repeated work: set a series of tasks quickly, estimate how long each one will take and how long your want to work on them all. • Save tasks to a plan for later, and group future tasks to make repeatable routines. • Export your whole record as tab-separated text, straight to the clipboard. • Six themes, light and dark. • VoiceOver support and adjustable text sizing. iPhone only in this version. iPad is planned.

What's New in Daybearing

1.1

September 29, 2026

Daybearing 1.1 NEW • iPad! Daybearing now runs on iPad in every orientation and at any window size. In a wide window the dial sits beside your task list, and Desk Mode sets the task and the dial side by side when that gives the dial more room. • Homscreen widget! See the task in hand, its countdown and your pace, and complete the task from the widget. It's instant, and the next task starts on its own. Between sessions it shows your pace, the time you've logged today, or what's waiting on your Plan. Available in small and medium; medium also shows what's next. Works with tinted and clear Home Screens. • Complete or Set Down from the notification. When a task's time is up, press and hold the alert to finish the task or set the session down, without opening the app. • Quick actions. Add or complete tasks without opening the app. Touch and hold the app icon to add a task, or to complete the one you're on. IMPROVED • Desk Mode gives the task name more room: long names wrap to up to four lines and sit above the clock. • On iPad, a two-finger trackpad swipe moves the time ruler. (also helps Mac compatibility) • The Past and Plan screens keep to a comfortable reading width on large screens. FIXED • Completing a task from the Live Activity while it's shown on a Mac could finish two tasks. One press now finishes one task. • The Live Activity countdown was hard to read on the light Signal and Brass themes. • In Past, a task finished exactly on time now lines up with the rest and shows a green 0. It's now clear on every theme, on a solid background. • A floating iPad keyboard no longer shrinks the page. Thanks for all the feedback since launch. Keep it coming at support@daybearing.com.
