Apps so bad I returned the sub

I’ve been a bowers and Wilkins customer for 40 years now. In replacing my much loved PV1 I thought the logical upgrade was a DB3D. The problem is this app stalls so much and the subs so dependent on the app that I couldn’t ever get a reliable connection with my 805D4s. What a horrible, relationship ending experience this app has been. REL for me sadly but life’s too short to be laboring over bad tech in a hifi setup.

iPhone 15 Pro | DB4S

wird leider, warum auch immer, keine Kalibrierung zur Raumkorrektur unterstützt! Es wird leider immer wieder ein Massfehler angezeigt! Mit meinem alten IPhone 7 funktioniert es einwandfrei!

Test-Modus fehlt

Bei der Überlegung einen B&W DB-Sub zu kaufen würde es sehr helfen die APP in einem “Test-Mode“ anschauen zu können ohne einen Subwoofer zur Verfügung zu haben. Hier wäre auch gleich zu sehen, ob mein B&W Lautsprecher mit auf der Liste steht.

Es fehlen viele Funktionen für einen komfortablen Betrieb

Ich betreibe zwei DB4S zur Unterstützung meiner B&W 804 D3.
Was mir fehlt sind:

1) Presets auf der Startseite der App
2) synchrone Steuerung von 2 Subwoofern
3) An/Ausschalter in der App

Es ist ein fast abendfüllendes Unterfangen, die 2 Subs z.B. Von "Musik" auf " Film" umzustellen, oder auch andere Einstellungen auszuprobieren oder anzupassen. Warum kann man die beiden Subs nicht synchron steuern?

Warum kann ich nicht bestimmte Einstellungen festlegen und als Presets auf der Startseite der App speichern?

Außerdem fehlt ein On/Off-Schalter in der App! Die Subs schalten verzögert ein, was nervt. Und die kürzeste Abschaltzeit sind 20 min. Bei den zwei eingebauten 1000W Verstärkern könnte man so unnötigen Stromverbrauch vermeiden.

Die App verschenkt viel Potential, denn die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten sind super! Aber sie werden nicht genutzt, da viel zu umständlich zu erreichen!

Update bitte!

Tolle App, die alles bietet einen Subwoofer einzustellen und das vom Sitzplatz aus. Aber bitte ein Update, um die Lautstärke weiter reduzieren als nur -10dB! Subwoofer beim einmessen viel zu laut.

Hi I can’t connect my speaker A5 to Bluetooth I’m using iPhone XS any idea?

The first model within our legacy Airplay speakers offering Bluetooth hardware was the Zeppelin Wireless; all prior models, including your A7, were Airplay only, for wireless use. Works well

Only issue is that it’s not possible to see what firmware I should be on. I can see what firmware I am currently on but is it the latest?

Hi, many thanks for your feedback. A firmware update in this app was signalled by an asterisk symbol showing in the menu; if no symbol was present, you were up-to-date. Useless

Unless something is wrong in my hw (iPhone SE, iOS 14.1, DB2), this app is a total mess.
9 times out of 10 it won’t find the sub even when the phone lays on its top. When it sees it, 9 times out of 10 it disconnects at random moments.
If I try and update the sub’s FW I can only get the first screen, where it advises to keep the phone on the unit... but nothing happens and there’s no command on screen to operate.
I tried and disconnect BT, and “forget” the sun in the BT page. I reset my phone as well.
Emailed Support at the address they have been suggesting here on Feb, 24Th. They never answered back - and yes, I checked spam folder.
Basically, I have at home a 4,000 € doorstop.

Does not work with IOS 15.2

After updating to ios 15.2 it no longer connects to the DB2d subwoofer. Tried reset the subwoofer and reinstalled the app without success.
Instead it works fine with ios 12 and 14. Please do an update.

Good app but it looses its connection once in a while

The app looses its connection to the subwoofer without any reasons. It is not easy to pair it again, it usually comes back as strangly as it disappeared. I must say I got an immediate reaction from B&W with excellent support. Thanks a lot to Sharon and the support team !

Works great!

Update: I was able to update the firmware on the sub, and I haven’t had any connection problems since then. Thanks B&W!

Overall, this app is excellent. Configuring my sub with the app instead of fiddling with switches and dials is much appreciated.

Cumbersome

Went to update the app. Kept spinning for 20 minutes. Then error msg. Deleted app and re installed. Doesn’t detect subwoofer any more!!!

Pl help resolve.

The App update

Since the app updated I lost the ability to change settings on my sub, tried everything... until I gave in and bought an older iPhone that’s not the iPhone 11 Pro.

Disconnects and/or unpairs at random

First, let me just say that the features on this app are great when they work properly. I like the control it affords one over the sonic character of the speaker.

Primarily, I use the app to manually disable the RCA inputs I have connected when I am done using it, because if I don’t it’s too sensitive (even in low sensitivity setting) and will periodically turn on when not in use. This is inconvenient, but manageable.

My major complaint is this: Every once in a while, seemingly at random, the sub will fail to connect to the app, after which time it seems to just totally unpair. This results in me having zero control over it, and the sub will just power on and off every 15 minutes or so if not being used. The only way I have found to fix this is to unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in. Aside from the fact that this should absolute not be necessary on a subwoofer that costs nearly $2,000, this is a huge pain because I have to crawl on the floor and get it out of its snug location to even unplug the thing. I have the metal carpet pegs installed, and this heavy sub can’t exactly be slid in and out of place, it’s a whole production. Then I have to re-tune it because it was moved. Please fix this issue.

Only working 50%

Used to work fine with my iPhone but now suddenly not anymore.. I can see my subwoofer via my device and it also turns on automatically when I tap it. But it doesn’t show the controls anymore, the apple ‘wheel’ keeps spinning but nothing pops up. Meaning I can’t adjust volume, ... kinda weak for a 1.5keur woofer... It does work on my girlfriends Samsung phone..
