No longer works

Used to be good. Supposed to work on IOS 12.4 - won’t run on IOS 12.5. Shame

Easy simple big meter

Easy simple big meter. Goes up and down with change in volume, useful in gauging volume on any number of things. In my quiet living room meter reading sits/starts at about 40, not sure this is accurate starting point but I can gauge louder spikes in various sounds from there. Plus heck its free!

Last update ruined it !! Does not open anymore

Optimized for iOS 9.3?

Ummm… You all are aware that we are on like iOS 11 point something now right?

Works, but could be more accurate.

The A, B, and C weightings are off. I am convinced that the meter is off just a tad bit. I use this on my iPhone 5S with iOS 10. Today I'm writing on March 29, 2017. So yes, it works but with some little improvements this app would be phenomenal.

FAQ

What does dB Volume do?

dB Volume turns your iPhone into a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) meter. It allows you to measure environmental noises and sound pressure levels using various industry-standard weighting curves and response times.

What are the key features of dB Volume?

Key features include selectable response time modes (impulse, slow, fast), weighting functions (A, B, C, Z), a peak hold function, and Leq measurement for environmental noise analysis.

Is dB Volume free to use?

Yes, dB Volume is offered as a free application. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned.

Can I use dB Volume for professional sound measurements?

While dB Volume is calibrated as carefully as possible, it is important to remember that it is still an iPhone and not a calibrated measuring instrument due to manufacturing tolerances. It is best suited for general environmental noise measurement rather than professional, certified acoustic analysis.

What kind of environmental noises can I measure?

You can measure general environmental noises and sound pressure levels. The app offers features like Leq measurement, which is useful for assessing average sound levels over a period, making it suitable for understanding ambient noise conditions.
