Promising App, But Yards-Only Is a Deal Breaker

As an Australian golfer, I was very disappointed to discover that everything in the app appears to be displayed in yards, with no obvious way to change distances to metres.

Before writing this review I:

* Confirmed my iPhone is set to metric units.
* Logged into the website version.
* Checked all available settings and menu options.
* Searched online and through Google for instructions.

Despite spending considerable time trying to resolve this, I could not find any way to switch the app to metres.

For golfers outside the US, this is a major usability issue. Having to constantly convert distances from yards significantly impacts the experience and makes many of the app’s features far less practical on the course.

The app itself seems promising, but a modern golf platform should support both metric and imperial units or, at the very least, make the setting easy to find.

Unless this can be resolved, I will unfortunately be cancelling before the trial period ends. I hope the developers address this issue, as it would make the app much more accessible for international users.

Had potential

Great concepts but like so many instructional programs it’s indulgent and inefficient. Too many words which doesn’t respect people’s time. Function very poor on I- pad (format messed up) and I phone (too small to see) Not sure how this app has gotten so much attention with the lack of function and long dialogue’s.

Stop overthinking your swing learn to golf

To keep it really simple, retired pro athlete with a good swing, good work ethic who needed to learn to play the game with proper strategy. Scoring has dropped with proper application. Excited to see better results in tournaments. Forget your score just commit to proper strategy. It took me years to understand how to aim and now I can get over a ball and trust I have acquired the correct target and send it! Best money spent on golf guidance. Period!

Review of app

Really like the app and the instruction. Certainly as an older player who has been a very good athlete trying to take there game to a scratch from a 3 is not easy. But understanding my faults and learning strategy is key. Scott, I love the lessons. Thank you.

Exactly what I was looking for.

The Decade app is, as the title indicates, ‘Exactly What I Was Looking For!’ I have a junior golfer in the family who has a very nice swing, very athletic and coordinated. At 14, he has been playing golf for about 4 years. He hits lots ta of really great shots, but also has an issue that errant shots wind up costing him big time. He will make three pars in a row, then hit one OB, over compensate on the next, into the trees, and put up a quad or something. Then, understandably, gets frustrated and the negative self talk starts and the downward spiral begins.

I think that many of us are very familiar with that syndrome.

The Decade system provides education and methods to reduce the occurrence of the OB that triggers the whole thing and how to deal with the results of it does happen.

This young man has plenty of potential to be a great golfer, but needs to learn every bit of this material. We have already begun seeing results.

Good content, terrible execution

I've heard and read about DECADE for a while now. Good concepts for course management. Unfortunately this app is so terribly written it is difficult to get anything of value out of it. Clunky navigation, no guidance, embedded ugly web pages, it's all here. The makers of this app need to hire a UI/UX designer who know how to build intuitive interfaces. Until then, don't waste your time or money and instead just Google Fawcett's talks.

Great Content but the videos don’t work

Please fix the videos so that they play when you click them.

Wish I’d known all this before I got to age 66!

The decade approach to cause management is brilliant although may appear counter intuitive if you are a fixed mindset. My handicap went from 6.8 to 5.3 in a month of taking this approach without changing my ball striking. Scott and Alex are very open and have advice is brilliant. Couldn’t recommend this more highly.

Taking my game to the next level

I started playing in my late 20s, 43 now, so I had no clue about course management as I never played on a team or anything just with friends and the occasional tournament. Getting down to a single digit handicap I hit a plateau of improvement. I did find some info on course management which helped but until I found decade I did not have the tools to really understand and implement course management. Understanding decade strategies and relying on them has really helped me play my best and removed a lot of the stress and frustration as well as understand what I need to work on and how to do so to really shave strokes off my game. I am now a 5 handicap and really feel that I can reach my goal of dropping to a 2 handicap or better by the end of this 2025 season. Excited to see the progress and learn from each mistake along the way. Knowing how to properly select the proper target and being committed to your decision is key to this game, and decade provides you with the knowledge and tools to do so. No matter what level you are playing at now, decade will help you, if you commit to it, period.

Yes

Yes, get it. Don’t even think any further, if you want to improve learn the system it changed my life.

Scott is the best

I’m as new member. The information you learn from Decade is priceless! I’ve been approaching strategy, tournament prep, and practice wrong for my entire golfing life. I’m so excited to apply all I’ve learned this season. Thanks for everything Scott!

Decade

App is terrible , great product if I could actually get a course book to load…

Waste of money!

What a waste of money! Haven’t been able to download and print a yardage book for a month now. Garbage!

Horrible App

This app is atrocious. For how much money we spend for a membership, the lack of effort put into this app is genuinely embarrassing. The interface is something out of windows 98 and there are bugs everywhere leading to constantly closing the app to fix them. As far as content, most of the videos are low quality or just a black screen with the Decade logo. Overall disappointing content for the price. I expected HQ videos and user friendly interface for $250 but it falls drastically short. Will edit once next season starts and can attempt to see if the system works.

Tee Shot Feature is Broken!

The selection of tee shot club, the resulting red dot, and the approach distance correlation is buggy. The selection of a club does not align with the position of the red dot and the resulting yellow approach line. Additionally, the yardage calculation appears to match the drawn line, but not the club selected.

From what I can tell, the yardage info at the bottom of the screen (distance to front/middle/back) are correctly tied to the red dot location. But the red dot location is incorrectly placed relative to the chosen club(s).

User interface is remarkably bad.

Whew. Unusable. Typos, glitches, double negatives.

No good even if it was free.

Great program

Scott’s content is fantastic, and has improved the way I both think and play the game!

Game changing

Affordable for the vast amount of content provided. Worth it for any golfer who wants to maximize their potential.

Could Be Great

The app is so embarrassingly bad. My team and I struggle to enter rounds without constant crashing and lock ups. Back end management is scattered and disorganized. Also, as a coach, I have to download and use THREE separate apps to effectively use all functions. Scott’s approach to the game is totally effective but the app makes it cumbersome. If the app is difficult to use my players don’t want use it. If they don’t want to use it then what’s the point? Also, why can’t I delete or modify my player’s rounds? IE sometimes they enter a practice round as a tournament round. It happens. But once it’s in I can’t edit it and they haven’t figured out how they can either (see above about the app being cumbersome).

Could be so good but it’s just not right now. If there isn’t a massive update and convergence of three apps into one, we’ll be looking elsewhere for next season. I pray it gets fixed. I’d be glad to beta test it as well.

Great content

I’ve been playing golf for 40 years and was already pretty good at course management. But the content has provided more knowledge and refinement. I highly recommend this app.
