Thanks!

Good way to learn, probably in conjunction with reading and tasting. Really appreciate that it’s available! My only complaint is the addition of AI generated photos. I get that it’s cost efficient but it’s a real eye sore.

Waste of £20

Spent £20 on the subscription and the answer options don’t show. Get a 404 error on app support link. Email address doesn’t work. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Worked for two rounds of questions. Same issue again. Don’t buy until it’s updated…

Timing

When testing yourself there isn’t enough time to read the question properly to get the full mark

Not worth it

Paid for premium but I cannot use the learning section, it tells me that my next question is in 8 seconds.
When testing myself with the quizzes, the time to answer the question to get a full mark is too short, sometime I’ve only just finished reading the question.

Frustrating app.

Very frustrating app. You have to remember the answers word for word. Many of the answers are out of date and therefore inaccurate.
Test results were changed after a few months of learning for no clear reason, or notification of why. Have cancelled my subscription renewal. As a subscriber of the Decanter magazine, I thought this would’ve been so much better.

Was great, but now seems to be irreparably broken

I was really enjoying the app and enthusiastic about several of the changes being made to the modules and quizzes, until I realized that after the more recent updates, all access to new learning content was completely lost. The quizzes show up fine, but I have no access to much of the learning content needed to prepare. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting from scratch, and adjusting every setting I can find but nothing has worked and multiple communications with the support team have been unfruitful. Very disappointing since this was previously a very useful and enjoyable app. I would recommend not subscribing until the glitches are worked out as it is extremely frustrating.

Don’t Buy This App

You owe me £20. I purchased this app and it doesn’t work at all. I have emailed your support team twice now asking for a solution and I’ve had zero response. This is effectively robbery and simply isn’t good enough. Sort it out.

Response from developer

Hi Gregory, apologies we've been transitioning our support to a new system and a few messages have slipped through, could you please reach out again and we will try and resolve your issue or endeavour to facilitate a refund if we're unable to help. Thank you for reaching out.

Subscriptions not working

Paid for subscription did not unlock content. Emailed support twice. Emailed apple support. No response from either. Good content but needs update and support

Good practice

It’s been years since I did my exam however I work in wine but only French so this is a great way to keep up to date and it shows me how far I’ve slipped

$30 upgrade NOT WORKING

I bought the $30 subscription for a year of decanter to further my wine study. I have been gravely disappointed and quite frankly a angry that I forked out this much for an app that doesn’t work. I cannot access any of the training modules (I’m still blocked out.) I’ve messaged the team for support so see how goes.

Cool app, could improve.

I like the app. It's definitely challenging for a wine neophyte like myself. Recommend adopting a flashcard system based on neuroscience like the Forever Fluent language learning app (Too many nuances to go over here, but it's about a lot more than using flashcards). Other two improvements I'd recommend are the inclusion of maps and pronunciation (sound files) for those of us without the requisite language background. Bottom line is I do recommend the app and enjoy using it on a daily basis.

These are good suggestions that we will take onboard.

Excellent Wine App

Know Your Wine is an excellent tool to extend your knowledge of wine no matter what your current level experience. As an educator, I am impressed with how effective the algorithm is. You will be amazed at how much you will learn.

Awesome App!

Fantastic app - really like the way it remembers what I’m struggling to learn and then reminds me. My knowledge of wine has grown exponentially in a short time and I’ve enjoyed dropping some facts into conversations with my friends! Highly recommend!

Modules Not Working

When I click on the modules, which I paid for through the subscription, the modules will not load.

Response from developer

The module detail is all in the questions, so you will have access to all content. However, we don't want users to passively read through content because that is not effective. Users must work hard to answer questions in order to embed knowledge into long-term memory.

Out of Order Questions Lead to Frustration

The concepts presented by the app have good intensions and seem to structure a natural learning of wine while avoiding short term memory learning faults. Unfortunately the early questions being wildly out of order lead to consistent frustration on aspects way too difficult for the section.

During the first few modules, why are questions on specific vineyards or labels included? Material on wine label basics or what specific label information means has not even been introduced yet. Asking about individual champagne label details that early on provides no opportunity for learning and incentivizes one time memorization in order to progress only to be forgotten soon afterwards.

While the majority of questions are appropriate, encountering unrelated random facts adds artificial difficulty and confusion.

Response from developer

Hi Pinball Beast, It was important for us that we offered a flavour of all content in the free modules. It is possible to mute modules and avoid encountering these early questions, whilst focusing on the topics you are interested in. Apologies if this was not clear.

Could do better

An interesting App for 10 minute “tune ups”. Some of the questions are subjective and repeat consistently even after many correct answers. Annoying it seems impossible to mute the alerts when in quick quiz mode. I have tried without success on 2 different iPads.

Modules

It’s a fun learning app but when I purchased a module, there was nothing but a photo.

Worst app I’ve ever encountered

It claims to NOT be a quiz app but it starts off that way as soon as you install and run it. It overrides the iOS sound volume settings and plays loud sounds even though I’ve turned down the volume to zero. It has one sound setting that it doesn’t allow me to turn off(the option is disabled). Pure piece of crap. Stay away.

Response from developer

Hi swrao, I'm sorry you had issues with the sound, I'm sure we can troubleshoot this for you if you send us a support email through the app. It's not a complaint we've had from others. The app uses the quiz function to assess your starting base of knowledge at the very beginning. The core learning element to the app works in a very different way, and this is how users can master the content, embedding it into their long-term memory. Quizzing on its own is not a very effective way to learn large bodies of content. All the best, FYE Team

Please restore clear UI on home screen

Please restore the old Home Screen. The new one is too full and unclear. Please also add explanations on the leader board, which is completely unclear.
