Update

The latest update screwed everything up . Was perfect before now takes forever to sign in ,your project gets lost or deck becomes invisible.

Good but needs some tweaking

I really do like this program. I use it for my job to help customers get a visualization of what their debt could be. A few things that I wish would change is that it’s a pain to have to login every time I open the app. Saving jobs or opening and loading previous jobs is glitchy sometimes they won’t open sometimes they will. It would be great for more options for walls and decorations to expand the apps capabilities. Railing options would be great if we had a lot more to choose from. With that said, all in all it’s a good app.

Can’t open project anymore

App was great initially using on iPadOS. Now I cannot open my project because the dialog box moves halfway up the screen and does not allow me to select the initial project I had started. This is despite restarting multiple times.

Can not access Report PDF on iPad

I spent a lot of time googling how to download The Report PDF only to find out it’s not available on iPad. This is a key item I need I am very frustrated.

Great visual aid

Great visual aid for in home customer interaction. Having trouble getting the reports to process and open in safari on my iPad.

Scott

I used and built a deck with this program and it was flawless on my iPad. Now my iPad has updated a couple of times I can no longer print the report for the building permit. Was a 5 star but now only a 3 because of no report. Hopefully they will fix this issue

Not supported with iOS 18

Key features to this app or not supported with the new iOS update you cannot make a product list. It will not create a PDF anymore. It also does not let you remove railing from stairs.

Doesn’t work well

To start, the sign in procedure doesn’t work with apple saved passwords, nor does it even remember that it’s been used before. It also won’t load my saved projects. Lastly the design controls are different than industry standard and are difficult to understand and use.

Great program

Great program. It gives you everything you need and the plans are very detailed. So far I haven’t had any issues saving or downloading plans

Completely useless

You can’t save your design, can’t print, and it created an octagon with one side 1” shorter than the others. You can’t simply type in dimensions. It’s the most amateur app on the App Store. You would think that Simpson makes enough $$$ off of their underengineered brackets (why are the opposing screw holes right next to each other on the joist hangers?) that they could afford to design an app that is worth the electricity it takes to download, but sadly, no.

Response from developer

Thanks for checking out our Deck Planner. Please take a look at version 2.0 that now syncs with the online version- same account, same projects- and now has AR and many updates, enhancements, and fixes.

Does not function

Can not save, cannot import images.

The process is great. But you can’t save

There’s also issues in not being able to do diagonal stairs or small upper levels (ie; a platform coming out of a door with a single step on top of the deck). The design software is otherwise great, except there’s nowhere to access the menu to save.

Can’t Save???

Great app until you find it you can’t SAVE

Response from developer

Thanks for using Simpson's Deck Planner. We will be releasing an update very soon with new features and the ability to save and retrieve projects. These can also be accessed on our web version with your same login information.

Works well with a big flaw

I’ve loved playing around with deck designs. It shows me how to build it and all-in-all works pretty smooth. The HUGE downside is I can’t save any deck designs. Maybe I just don’t see the save button? If so, it’s not intuitive to save.

PROBLEM LOADING

I canNOT review this app because it never got passed the “downloading your design” stage, which was nothing more than providing the deck dimensions.
