Updated review: Free version - missing data *resolved*

Updated review: after submitting review I went back to the app to try again. I figured out that there are two ways to enter deductions and one option resulted in "add to cart" button hidden under my numeric keypad display. I was able to enter everything again and it saved.

I reported the bug and the team is super responsive and already put a fix in!

This will be my go to for recording deductions for 2026! Better than ITs Deductible 🙌🏻

Entry is simple and the app does a great job estimating values and totaling donations.

However, I entered 9 categories (30–40 items total) and it only saved 3. When I exported to TurboTax, the list was still incomplete.

If this is a limitation of the free version, it’s not disclosed. Frustrating to lose data after taking the time to enter everything.

Hi Laura, sorry you lost data - this was not a free-tier limit (there are no caps on donations or items). On iPhone, the numeric keyboard covered the "Add Items to Cart" button, so it was easy to leave the screen thinking your entries were saved when they weren't. We shipped a fix (version 1.19.2) the same day we received your feedback — the text field is now a +/− stepper that keeps the Add button visible. Responding quickly to user feedback is something we pride ourselves on. Thank you for the clear report; your feedback makes DeductIt better. Heavily researched all of the “fly-by-night” apps that magically arrived on scene after Intuit scuttled the “ItsDeductible” app so many of us came to rely on for our yearly (non-cash) donations to Goodwill etc.. (it does cash and a bunch if other types as well). This app is genius and you won’t find much online advertising it. Most other apps hook you to the BS subscription model (which this has as well, albeit much more affordable), but this has something most don’t…an ability to purchase a lifetime subscription (pay once and be done with it!). Before I jumped in head first, I downloaded the app and it had a “demo-mode” where you could interactively work within the app to see how it functions. I was blown away by the user-friendly interface and was convinced I had found “the one”. An unexpected feature I stumbled on was the ability to not only import my old Intuit TT ItsDeductible data (most of the apps do this), but this app provides a desktop “helper” automation tool that literally entered all of the donation data into my desktop version of TurboTax for me - only took minutes for it to enter everything and did so almost flawlessly (obviously double check everything). It also gives you the ability to share with up to 6 family members (or your CPA) and they may also contribute data from their device to the same master account for family collaboration. There is also a web version that syncs with the phone app over the cloud. Couldn’t have asked for a better product to make my life easier at tax time and I thank the genius(es) that brought this to market. Worth every penny for the $60 Lifetime subscription (at the time of this writing). That only gets you 2-3 years with the other (less capable IMHO) apps out there that charge $20-30 per year for a less impressive product. This is as close to the old way ItsDeductible did it in years past and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it and gave it a chance. It did not disappoint! If you’re on the fence like I was, just go for it - THIS APP ROCKS!! Thank you Deductit for an awesome product and refreshingly easy experience:)

This review made our week — thank you. Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with the state of TurboTax import tooling out there, so we poured a lot of engineering effort into the automated TurboTax Desktop entry flow. Hearing it worked smoothly and actually saved you time is exactly what we were hoping for. We added the lifetime option for folks who (reasonably) dislike subscriptions — thank you for supporting DeductIt. We have big plans to keep improving the TurboTax integration and expanding to other tax software.

Great functionality

I tried out five different alternatives to ItsDeductible; this one is the best.

The functionality of DeductIt is as good if not better than the other apps that rely on text lookups. And DeductIt comes at a lower price.

While some of the other apps theoretically offer more features with AI, speech and/or photographic recognition, those features didn’t offer a time savings or were janky in practice. Not worth the extra cost.

The free tier works just fine but I found it helpful to pay the small cost to tie receipts to donations records.

Thank you — head-to-head feedback like this is the most useful kind. We deliberately kept the free tier fully functional for core tracking so people could decide on paid upgrades based on real value, not gated features. Glad the receipt-linking was worth the small upgrade for you.

Easy To Use

So glad to have user friendly app to track my donations on the go! Free version works great, although I upgraded for just a couple dollars a month to share with my household. Very intuitive app & my questions are answered quickly.
