As the title states, I’ve been a long time reader of Defense One. I have nothing bad to say about the reporting or opinion pieces, however the app needs serious updating.
Today, people consume news and content on their personal devices more than anywhere else, and I’d like to see Defense One make a serious investment in their app. Competitors such as DefenseNews have done this, and as a result their content is easier to engage with.
Engagement drives ad revenue.

Informative but needs and little update
Really informative app. Love the podcast too. This is one my trusted sources of news for its topics. I’d like to see a little bit of an app update for iOS though. It’s mainly formatted for really old device screens and it could be refreshed for current. Thanks!
Politics One
The name of this app should be changed to Politics One. They have strayed so far from defense in many articles it feels as though I’m on CNN. And yes they lean left. I’ll be deleting the app but checking back periodically to see if they get back to what what the names says they cover, defense issues.

Part of my daily readings
As an Army veteran and a retired teacher I appreciate the depth and breadth of the articles and find them to be well written and informative. I’m looking for reliable and accurate sourcing and find that in most of what I read here unlike the rants that pass for network news these days.
Left-Wing Propaganda at Best
This app should be listed under “Entertainment” as opposed to “News.” It and its articles are complete bull. I just went through nearly every one in my feed and they were all filled with politically biased rhetoric, not fact-based reporting on defense related issues. They make no attempt to maintain an unbiased approach and simply use their platform as a means of pushing their far leftwing agenda, even going so far as to show open support for the criminals and anarchists of ANTIFA.
Also, if you notice... almost all of the five star reviews are only a few words. That is a pretty clear indication of bot activity and artificial inflation of the app. Nice try Defense One.

Why is Defense One reporting Democratic Political stories?
The site should be free from politics, but sadly it is not. The article, “Why is General Flynn Free” completely ignores all the corrupt political witch hunt actions by the FBI as it hunted down General Flynn for no other reason than to destroy him. The reporter os inept and should be fired. All the editors should be suspended and be required to take classes to ensure bias is not found in future stories. Otherwise, I would advise NO ONE TO READ THIS BLOG AGAIN!

Needs iPad edition
I docked one star giving only 4 because it is formatted for iPhone only. Otherwise no need to repeat the praise of others - ditto!

Great News Source
Defense One is great and one of my favorite news sources. However, the current app interface looks like it’s stuck in 2014, I would love to see an update that redesigns it and utilized the full screen on iPhone X’s and up.
Well analyzed information
I like that this source provides facts while most others are skewed and influenced by sources funded by foreign agencies that are not in the interest of Americans.

The press is one of our fundamental freedoms, that Defense One works to preserve. And, their reports on scientific advances and military contracts, are informative and important.
Bias?
As a former combat veteran, I find the clear and concise assessments that Defense One provides to be refreshing. Complaints of bias are probably coming from people who have never been in combat and are blinded by and actually believe Fox News Lies and Falsehoods. Rangers lead the way!
Key part of any Defense expert’s daily sourcing
Excellent source to complement the more technical and institutional sources of news and information on the national security establishment. No one source can (or should) be relied on for accurate open source US defense information, but Defense One should be part of any serious follower’s portfolio of sources.

Helpful overall perspective
One can gain an additional and helpful perspective on global issues. It’s helpful possibly formulating an acceptable and accurate opinion on national news from other sites and than reading Defense One.
Disappointed
Liberal bias... I want objective news. There is no place for this in actual DoD news. It’s as if all the writers are star bucks baristas writing columns for extra money on the side. Disappointed and am uninstalling this app.
Could be great but...
Too much liberal angles and anti trump thrown in made me uninstall the app. I am looking for defense news that is down the middle, fact oriented, and takes the political views out of the writing. Let me generate my own opinions.

Bias is clear and identifiable. There close to acceptable, you can find facts of which you might not have been aware.
