Cash grab

It’s really just one big cash-grab, it advertises it as free, makes you input all of your info, and then blocks the actual app behind a paywall.

Response from developer

Hi! I appreciate your feedback, and I'll work on making the setup process and pricing clearer. I'm sorry the subscription came as a surprise after going through setup. Deflect costs money every time someone uses the AI to request an app unlock, making it difficult to offer a completely free version. There is a 7-day free trial, so you can see if Deflect is for you before paying anything. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at support@deflectai.app!

FAQ

What is Deflect's primary function?

Deflect is an AI-powered app blocker designed to help users manage their screen time. It requires users to justify their need to access blocked apps through a conversational interface, making it harder to bypass limits.

How does Deflect's AI work?

The AI analyzes your reasons for accessing blocked apps, considering factors like time of day, past requests, and the type of block. It then decides whether to grant a limited pass based on your justification.

Can Deflect request proof of my reason?

Yes, Deflect can ask for a photo as proof for certain requests, especially when a goal is set, like finishing homework. This adds an extra layer of accountability to your screen time management.

What are the customization options for Deflect?

You can customize Deflect's voice (Supportive or Unhinged), strictness levels (Easy, Normal, Hard), the maximum minutes granted per unlock, and set end goals for your focus sessions.

Is Deflect free to use?

The app is free to download and use with basic features. A Deflect Pro subscription is required for full functionality, including advanced AI features and customization options.

How much does Deflect Pro cost?

Deflect Pro offers weekly and yearly subscription plans. The weekly plan is $4.99, and the yearly plan is $39.99, which includes a 7-day free trial.

Does Deflect have ads?

No, Deflect is ad-free. The app's privacy policy states that there are no ads and user data is never sold.

What devices does Deflect support?

Currently, Deflect is supported on iPhones. It utilizes Apple's Screen Time framework to implement its blocking features.
