A Nightmare
After installing the app opened up set everything up worked fine to play my TV. The first time I tried to play music through the system from my phone. I was told to convert my music to DMA or DMV…. something of that nature. I cannot get out of that screen, no matter how many times I’ve deleted the app and reinstall the app. It keeps telling me to convert my music. I don’t want to convert my music. I need to listen to my music. I need to control the TV but yet it’s stuff stupid. Garbage complete garbage

Almost useless
I have a Denon S540BT and couldn’t find the remote. No problem I think to myself. I’ll just download the Denon 500 series remote app and problem solved. Problem NOT solved! Since reworking my surround system after a remodel, I need to run setup and set my system to the new room. There is literally no way to do this from this app (or the front panel of the receiver). This app only works through Bluetooth- and good luck with that! IF you manage to connect (a feat in itself) you get only basic functions. Power on/off. Volume up/down. Source select… that’s about it. No way to navigate menus, select items, adjust distances, manually eq your system, select listening modes…etc. For a decent amp, this app highly disappoints.

Unreliable Pairing of Bluetooth
I paired my iPhone to the receiver. Worked ok. Second time struggled with it. Third time it refused to pair and the app went into a loop. Not worth the frustration. I now use AirPlay and it works great. Don’t waste your time.
Terrible cannot connect
Cannot connext to new iphone keeps saying it does not work. I do not know why I’ve tried pairing it multiple times. I think it needs an update. It just flat out refuses to pair. I can't seem to add screenshots of any other pictures.
What good is an app that won’t connect?

Please make app even better
I feel this app is to basic for a great company. I can do more with the remote it comes with so why bother with this? I would like to have a layout of all my adjustments for my sound that I can control so I’m not flipping on each little thing with the remote so I can control my levels, distance, bass, treb, vol, hertz, crossovers, and so forth for a iPad or tablet app. Then the app would be worth the download. Useless
This app does nothing but let you change the source of the audio and the volume. How about letting us get into actual setup of the speaker system? No? Ok.
Doesn’t deserve even one star
I so hope the receiver works better than this useless app. Opened it one time, instantly froze and cannot open anything. FROZEN !!
What’s the deal?
1st world problems I know but dammit Denon if you could ever get your apps to work as well as your equipment ……..Worked great for 4-5 weeks and now it’s stuck on the opening screen. I’ve deleted and reloaded multiple times with no success.
Unacceptable
I don’t even know how or why they put out this 1980s quality app. Such a disappointment. Why even bother? The bluetooth remote needs to be added every time you return to the house. Terrible!

Stuck in ‘Connect to AVR’
Worked okay originally now I can’t do anything in the app as it always set to connect to AVR when it’s already connected.

Obvious bug. It connects through bluetooth. Music comes through but then…nothing. App just freezes. No menu. Nothing.

Almost bricked my iPhone XR
When this app failed to move on from the loading screen, I just left it to decide whether to eventually run. Later, after turning off the receiver, the app was stuck on the connect to avr page where it described how to put it into paring mode etc. Trouble was, this page wouldn’t close, the app wouldn’t close and the phone wouldn’t do anything, even bring up the turn off swipe. I accidentally called the emergency line while trying to get the phone to turn off since the screen didn’t change from the frozen app. After managing to reboot the phone, I deleted the app and won’t try it again. It is not a huge loss - the AVR550BT works well without the app, and Bluetooth works like any other Bluetooth speaker.

That is it. Worthless app. Why even make it? Enough to make me switch brands.
Used to work great but..
When I got this a year ago, everything went great. I just tried it today, and I can no longer turn my speaker on or off with the app. Not terrible, but certainly disappointing. The app keeps showing I need to connect to Bluetooth, but when I play my music, it works. Again, it works, so not a huge issue. They must have had an update. I’m afraid to delete the app and reinstall because of the issues I’m reading in other reviews. I guess a bird in the hand...
