About
Desika Sthothram is a quiet, beautiful place to read the stotras of Swami Vedanta Desikan (Thoopul Nigamantha Mahadesikan), the great Sri Vaishnava acharya, poet and philosopher. Every verse is free, the whole text is inside the app, and it works entirely offline.
TWO BOOKS, BOUND IN LEATHER AND GOLD
• Desika Sthothram — 16 stotras, 544 verses
• Pādukā Sahasram — the complete Śrī Raṅganātha Pādukā Sahasram: all 32 paddhatis, 1,008 verses
The stotras: Hayagrīva Stotram, Sudarśana Aṣṭakam, Godhāstuti, Dayā Śatakam, Daśāvatāra Stotram, Śrī Stuti, Bhū Stuti, Yatirāja Saptati, Vairāgya Pañcakam, Abhīti Stavam, Aṣṭabhuja Aṣṭakam, Bhagavad Dhyāna Sopānam, Garuḍa Daṇḍakam, Garuḍa Pañcāśat, Varadarāja Pañcāśat and Devanāyaka Pañcāśat.

READ IN YOUR OWN SCRIPT
Choose how the Sanskrit is written — Tamil (with the Grantha conventions of Tamil Vaishnava books), Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Devanagari, or English in two forms: an easy spelling for reciting and IAST for scholars. Switch any time in Settings; your place and bookmarks carry over. Search works across all of them, so you can type in Roman letters and find a verse written in any script.
MADE FOR RECITATION
• Clean, unhurried reading with adjustable type size and typeface
• Light, sepia and night reading themes, plus a high-contrast mode
• Full-screen reading that hides every control
• The invocatory verse and closing mangalam shown with each stotra
• Verse numbers as printed, so you can jump straight to verse 37
• Bookmark any verse, and gather verses into your own collections
• Share a verse as text
• Daily reminders at the times you choose
• A home-screen widget that shows a verse every hour
• Previous and next stotra at the end of each page
PRIVATE AND OFFLINE
No account is needed and nothing you read is sent to us. Your bookmarks, collections and place stay on your device, or sync through your own iCloud if you turn that on. The app shows small banner ads to keep it free; a one-time purchase removes them, and anyone who leaves a tip never sees them.
ABOUT THE TEXT
The Sanskrit text is taken from the Sri Desika Stotrani edition prepared by Sunder Kidambi with the blessings of Srimad Andavan, Srirangam (prapatti.com). The Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Devanagari renderings and the Roman spellings are converted from that Tamil-Grantha text by the app; they have been checked line by line against it, but a conversion can differ from a printed edition in places.
