Detour Buddy finds nearby places that are actually worth stopping for, based on your location, time budget, and vibe. No accounts. No feeds. No planning a whole day. Just fast, nearby discovery. How it works Choose a vibe (Scenic, Coffee, Quirky, Bars, Restaurants). Set a time budget (how far you’re willing to go). Detour Buddy searches nearby places and ranks them with short, human-readable “why” lines. Tap Maps for directions, or open the web to learn more. Designed for real-life moments when you want a small win, not a big plan. Why Detour Buddy feels different Detour Buddy doesn’t just dump map results. It applies lightweight curation so the list stays useful: Time-aware results: Places are ranked by how quickly you can get there. Variety: The app avoids flooding the list with the same type of place. Quality signals: For food and drink, obvious chains and low-signal retail are downranked. Two quality modes: Anything shows a broad set of nearby options. Best applies stricter filtering for higher-quality picks (Pro). If results are sparse, Detour Buddy automatically relaxes filters to avoid dead ends. Free vs Pro Detour Buddy is free for quick scenic detours, with no account required. Free includes: Scenic vibe “Anything” quality mode Open places in Apple Maps Web and search shortcuts Detour Buddy Pro unlocks: All vibes: Coffee, Quirky, Bars, Restaurants “Best” quality mode with stricter filtering Save places you want to revisit Add editable notes to saved places Locked features remain visible so you can see what’s available, but are disabled without a subscription. Switch to Walking to get realistic nearby picks with walking distances in mind. • Smarter ETAs We now estimate ETAs for all results and refine the top picks using Apple Maps. You’ll see better timing right away, with more accurate ETAs filling in after a moment. • Time Budget That Matches Results The time range you set is now consistently reflected on the results page.
