Exactly what I need in the AM
I grew up reading the Free Press first thing every morning. When it switched to a digital version I was concerned but gave it a try since it was so easy and practical, especially when traveling. I did not have to go without my FP. I’m very happy with the app. It’s like reading the paper … but on my iPad! Keep up the good work, keeping up with the times, Free Press!

Balanced reporting
I truly wish there was more balance in reporting stories. Seems your choices of article selection could balance a bit if you chose other sources occasionally. Editorial pages, well you are the FREEP so I expect a left of center lean. I am starting to wonder if left and right lean do nothing but create more tension. Something not needed at these times. Perfect alternative to print version
We have been Freep readers for decades and still get the print version 3x/week. This most recent version is better than ever. Reading the digital version allows you to increase the font. I use an iPad mini and it works great.
Detroit Free Press App/ E-Edition: CLUNKY!
After you work through multiple logon issues and the idiotic “Recapcha” picture puzzles, you MAY be able to read the paper.
Once you’re able to see the paper, it’s a nice read and easy to scroll through. A nice feature is the option to click on an article and have it open on your reading device separately.
Fix the annoying logon and Recapcha issue and Gannett may have a keeper even though this app has likely resulted in the loss of many jobs.

Detroit Free Press on line
I have been “reading” the Freep on line for over a year. I would prefer a “print” edition but understand the changing dynamics of today and the necessity to charge much more for the paper , which I can’t afford.

Excellent App
I never thought in a million years I would enjoy reading my paper on my phone, but I love it! Read it cover to cover everyday!
Love seeing the e-edition online.
Works well and I can print articles , but cannot figure out how to share articles. Guess I need some help with that.
New version works better
The old version kept jamming/freezing. A new version apparently came out at some point. I was having even more problems so I deleted the old and reinstalled it. Then it started working far better. Then I realized that it was a new and better version.
Big improvement in loading
Greater reliability in complete loading and maintenance throughout the read.
Easy to use App
I am a long time newspaper reader. I was hesitant to go online to read the newspaper for a long time. But as you have over priced the delivery subscription out of my fixed income range and limited the number of days you will home deliver I have been forced to accept the inevitable by reading my newspaper on line. Your App was very easy to learn and most of the controls are intuitive to manipulate. My hats off to your programmers. I enjoy the paper although I miss the tangible feel of folding and reading a real paper. I also cannot cut out articles or other things I find of interest. I do print articles from time to time to have something tangible from the paper. Keep up the good work. Mr. Gary Coppa

Couldn’t be a better AP in my opinion
Two ways to look at articles and pick the one you want to read. Once picked the story includes what may have been continued on other pages and at an easy to read font.
Smaller items
Some of the smaller articles, advice columns and side bars are not available to read as one does other items. This requires going back over the paper to enlarge them in order to read them.
Detroit Free Press - I like it
I know it may not have the depth that the old print version had, but it still provides insights and solid information as to what’s going on in the City and State of Michigan. I value it as part of my life. Just wish the Tigers were doing better.

Even great for older folks!
I never thought that I would miss getting an actual newspaper every day, with an emphasis on “paper”. All my life I have enjoyed the feel of the paper in my hands, holding it up in front of my face and folding it, and hearing the ‘crinkle’ as I went through each page. Well, the digital Free Press actually upgraded the experience!
I am glad that there is a Print Edition, because the organization and look of the Free Press provides a welcome, comfortable experience. However, the digital format provides some features that I never thought possible. One can jump directly to a section; page through at the touch of a button; zoom into a column so it’s large print; or even tap an article to read it as if it’s a stand alone. Not to mention tapping ‘links’ that lead to the next part or related information.
And it’s still my favorite paper, even when it’s not paper. 😉

I have enjoyed the online version for about 5 years. Works out great when traveling. Simple to use. I have the app on both my IPad and IPhone.

Worth the subscription
That works great. Love reading the whole paper the next day when the facts are better understood versus when the story breaks. Do wish the pictures were more like the other Freep app.
Best way to get my morning paper!
My day does not start without the Free Press….hasn’t for 60 years, and this app delivers exactly what I want, in the format I want, available without fail every day. Easy to read, easy to print or send articles, can adjust print size with a touch.
Easy to use - refreshes automatically
I like this app because I can take the paper wherever I go. If I do not have Wi-Fi on my iPad, the downloaded version still displays. My paper is typically available at 4 AM.
