Dhol-E is a mobile application that allows users to play the Dhol, a traditional Indian musical instrument, on their iPhone or iPod Touch. It simulates the experience of playing the Dhol by enabling users to tap on the screen with their fingers to create rhythms and sounds.
Playing the Dhol on Dhol-E is as simple as tapping on the screen with your fingers. The app provides three distinct sounds, representing each side of the Dhol and the barrel itself, allowing for a realistic playing experience.
Dhol-E Connect is a feature that allows two users with Dhol-E installed to connect via Bluetooth. This enables one user to see and follow along as the other plays the Dhol on their screen, facilitating interactive learning and playing sessions. An in-app upgrade is required for both devices to use this feature.
Dhol-E is available for iPhone and iPod Touch. However, the Dhol-E Connect feature requires an in-app upgrade on both devices and does not support the original iPhone and the original iPod. An exclusive iPad-only version, Dhol-E HD, is also available.
The base Dhol-E app is free to download and use. However, certain advanced features, such as the Dhol-E Connect functionality, require an in-app purchase on both devices to enable.
