Secure - Data protection: Number 1

I strongly recommend Diarium the app for your consideration. I used another app for about four years, with very good results — until the addition of features caused a data loss, as I was typing / scribing. For me, that was what made me try Diarium. Since using this app, there has been NO data loss. There are visible reminds to manually save your entries. That’s all that I ask for: keep my carefully crafted ideas “safe”.

But in addition — editing features that make the app visually appealing, and having those features readily available (iOS mobile) (iOS tablet - 2 sizes) (MacOS) —> yes, I am a paid user for both MacOS and iOS —> paying in this way for the app is a small price to pay for secure, cross-platform access to my thoughts, my ideas in a way that makes me feel completely free to scribe.

Many thanks to the app developer… Sometimes simple and effective goes a long way.

Another bonus: friendly to on-screen virtual / Apple keyboards / physical keyboards. The devs include most typing / word entry conventions typical for iOS PadOS MacOS. This is not the case for other apps…. Ask yourself: Does my current journal app allow me to scribe the same way I would input text for non-personal writing? Diarium the app DOES - and it’s worth giving a try.

Excellent, but….

I really like this app. It has pretty much everything that I have been looking for and I use it to record mundane events (as a “when did I last…?” app) and diary/journal/social events.

The one thing I don’t like - and this is purely a personal opinion - is the inability to manipulate photos within an entry. In other words, if I have, say, a journal entry for a particular day and if a lot happened that day, there may be 10 or more photos that I want to include. At present (and I don’t know whether there are plans to address this), all photos appear along the bottom of the entry. This is similar to Card Diary, where the photos are along the TOP.

As a journal, I also use Diarly. There, I can place (and manipulate) photos in and around the text of an entry. So, if I have a paragraph about a particular event, I can include a photograph relating to that event within that paragraph.

However, I like the interface of this app far more than that of Diarly. This app is cleaner and simpler to use and, at the initial level, sets out the data better.

Again, purely as a personal opinion, an ability to manipulate photos within the app would make it pretty much impossible to replace.

It is only for this personal preference that I haven’t awarded the app 5 stars, which it probably deserves.

UPDATE: Thanks to the developer for getting back to me so quickly. As I suspected, adding the ability to manipulate photos presents its own unique challenges. I do hope that this could become a feature in the future. Notwithstanding this, Diarium has become, and will remain my main app for setting out the notes, photos and data relating to my routine events and my travel and social events and I can heartily recommend it.

Great app

Perfect for my needs, attachments, seamless syncing across Apple devices. No major glitches so far (a few years) - double entries w syncs sometimes

Was will man sonst…

Response from developer

Best I’ve found

This works across devices ( iPhone and ipad mini) smoothly. It seems to have found old entries from apps I used a while back as well and incorporated them without fanfare. It’s perfect for me.
