About
Your child's French dictation is about their own week: Saturday's birthday party, Thursday at the pool, Grandma's visit. You read it aloud, they write it by hand.
IMPORTANT — THE DICTATIONS ARE IN FRENCH
Dictée Ludique drills French spelling. The app itself speaks English or French, following your device, but every text it produces is in French. It is made for children in French immersion or bilingual schools, for families living in France, and for adults learning French.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Your child picks a theme among three moments from their own week.
2. The app writes a French dictation at their level, from CP to 3e (ages 6 to 15).
3. You read it aloud. They write it in their notebook, with a pen.
4. You correct it together, then tick what went wrong — 15 seconds.
5. The next dictation works on what they missed.
WHAT IT CHANGES
• A text that is about them. A child writes differently when the dictation is about their birthday rather than the neighbor's cat.
• Progress tracked against the French curriculum. Skill by skill, you see what is mastered, in progress or shaky: noun and verb agreement, past participles, homophones, verb endings.
• Difficulty that adjusts itself. Too many mistakes and the text gets shorter. Too few and it gets denser. The grade level shown never moves on its own.
• Nothing to prepare. You open it and you read. That's all.
WHAT DICTÉE LUDIQUE DOES NOT DO
Better said before you buy than after.
• The app does not correct automatically. Your child writes in their notebook, you correct it with a red pen, then you tick the mistakes in the app. We preferred a correction done properly by you over an approximate one done by a machine.
• The app does not photograph the page. No handwriting recognition, so no mistakes invented by a misread.
• You are the one reading. The app can read in your place if you prefer, but it is built for a moment shared by two people.
• No account, no password, no sync between devices.
YOUR DATA STAYS WITH YOU
Everything happens on your iPhone. The texts are written on the device by Apple Intelligence. Your calendar, your family's first names and your child's results are never sent anywhere, to anyone — not to us, not to a third party.
You approve every event before it can be used in a dictation, and you can skip the calendar entirely: just type your moments by hand.
No data collected. No advertising. No trackers.

COMPATIBILITY
Writing a dictation from your own calendar uses Apple's built-in intelligence, available on iPhone 15 Pro and later.
On other devices, the app draws on a library of dictations reviewed one by one, sorted by level and theme, personalized with your family's first names. Choosing the theme, the reading sheet, the skill tracking and the difficulty adjustment all work exactly the same.
CP through 3e. Works without an internet connection.

What's New in Dictée Ludique French Spelling
1.0.1
August 24, 2026
THE FRENCH APOSTROPHE Dictation texts now use the curly apostrophe: “la porte d’entrée”, not “la porte d'entrée”. It is the one French schoolbooks and exercise books use. For a spelling app, that is not a detail. The change reaches dictations you have already done: open one again and it reads correctly. AND A WORD ABOUT THE APP Once in a long while — no more than that — the app offers to help you tell someone about it. Word of mouth is all it has. Nothing goes out on its own: it is your message, sent from your device, to whoever you choose.
