About

Diko is a flashcard app that respects your time and your taste. Tap a card to reveal the answer. Swipe right for Good, left for Again, up for Easy. That's the whole interaction. No five-button widget, no tap targets to miss — just three gestures and a quiet, paper-warm interface designed for one-handed review on the train, in line, between meetings. Under the hood Diko uses an Anki-flavoured SM-2 spaced-repetition scheduler. New cards graduate after two short learning steps, then come back at intervals that grow with your ease factor. "Again" drops a card into a relearning queue and shrinks its ease — exactly the way Anki does it, just with a kinder face. — LOCAL-FIRST BY DESIGN — Your decks, your reviews, your streaks: all stored on this device. No account required. No backend. No analytics SDK. No advertising ID read. Our privacy policy is honest because the architecture leaves us nothing to disclose. — SIX BUILT-IN DECKS, SIX LANGUAGES — Diko ships with starter decks in Spanish, Catalan, French, Russian, English (advanced vocab + idioms + false friends) and Product Thinking. Every card back is translated into all six interface languages — so a French speaker studying Spanish sees French definitions, an English speaker sees English ones, and so on. The interface itself is fully localised in English, Français, Català, Español, Русский and Deutsch. — BUILD YOUR OWN — Create your own decks with a one-tap "+ New collection." Pick a title, accent colour, and language for text-to-speech. Add cards with front, back, examples, and tags. Edit anything, anytime. — BRING YOUR ANKI DECKS — Export your notes from Anki Desktop (File → Export → Notes in Plain Text), drop the file in Diko, and a new deck is created with every card queued for review. Quoted fields, embedded newlines, comments and both tab- and comma-separated formats are handled automatically. — TEXT-TO-SPEECH, ON-DEVICE — Tap the speaker icon on any revealed card to hear it pronounced in the right accent. Diko uses Apple's built-in speech engine — no audio is sent anywhere. — KIND REMINDERS — A single 7pm streak-saver and an optional 9am morning nudge. Localised in all six languages. Generated locally on your iPhone. — STATS THAT MEAN SOMETHING — "Two weeks of review" — a heatmap of your last 14 days, your current streak, and a calm rating spread. No vanity numbers, no streak shame. — BRING YOUR STREAK — Switching from another SRS app? Set your starting streak in Settings. Diko backfills the activity record so your momentum doesn't reset to zero just because you changed apps. — DESIGN — Warm paper, ink-deep type, a single ochre brand colour, three semantic rating colours. Instrument Serif for emotional moments, Geist for everything functional. Every hit target is at least 44pt; rating buttons are 56pt. WCAG AA contrast throughout. Dynamic Type and Reduced Motion respected. Diko is local-first, ad-free, and built by a small team. We hope you enjoy it.
