Could be better
We’ve been using this to learn Vietnamese in southern dialect (since Duolingo teaches northern). For what you’re paying, it could be a lot better. A lot of the video lessons are hard to understand - it would be really helpful if all of the videos had captions where you can read and listen at the same time it would be way more helpful. The way the videos currently are, my kids and i just kind of zone out waiting for them to finish so we can move on. The songs are NOT songs, it’s just a lady repeating the words to music, there’s no rhyme or rhythm.

This app is nice but I really wish more was free so we could get more of a preview of what we’re getting into before buying the subscription.

I am looking for an app to teach my 40 month old child basic Japanese. I wanted to test it out first as he cannot read any English but they make you sign up and it’s difficult to cancel. Not signing up for something without even being able to see it first.
speaking test bug
picking up on full sentences, but when it’s one word it will mark it as incorrect.
Dislike
We intended to have a temporary download of this app and it defaulted into a one year subscription that apparently I was a day late in cancelling and so we had to pay over $130 for a subscription that our grandson refuses to use.

Fun videos but other better options
My kids enjoyed this app, it was mainly videos and a bright interface, the Portuguese was accurate but wasn’t worth the screen time. There are better more engaging apps or if your kids respond to the videos the YouTube would be a free resource. Also I cancelled the subscription after a couple of months then noticed that it was still taking payments. The app showed the subscription was cancelled but you actually have to cancel via stripe, I feel this is deliberate.

New features need improvement
I like the app overall but with new features of talk tests it’s a bit frustrating for the kids given it’s not picking up what they say right away or at all. So it’s getting more frustrating.

What an app!
What a superb way for kids to learn, it’s very engaging and repetitive but in a good way, for example the topic of colours, you can learn blue. Then in the next topic of animals it teaches you animals and colours combined such as “ a blue dinosaur” this is super helpful! Great app. Voice feature has now been included which is so fun for kids !

WILL KEEP BILLING YOU EVEN IF YOU CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION
This app is impossible to cancel. I ended my subscription months ago and was continuously billed $20 a month regardless. Had to email the company to finally get it to stop. Be careful!

Confusing
The set up for learning a new language on this app is confusing. Bought a year subscription but could seem to disengaged with it.

Bad interface, ai videos
The interface does not adapt well, feels like a phone port. My kid constantly had issues with things like the video halfway off the screen, or the scroll not going to the bottom because the bottom half was off the screen.
I decided to watch some pf the videos with them, many are poorly made and animated with a lot of very bad ai generated content. I hear about Duolingo all the time I would’ve expected higher quality standards.

Very expensive and a little gimmicky
I wish this was priced accordingly for the content. $4-5 a month would be much more reasonable vs the $13 they want for this so-so app

So I downloaded it and it did not have Spanish so I put Latin so then asked for email address Doulingo does not do that it’s called dinolingo so yeah
