About

*** This is NOT a real altimeter *** Dirt Dive is a skydive altimeter SIMULATOR. It exists so a skydiving student can practise altitude awareness on the ground: looking at the altimeter regularly through a dive, knowing the altitude at every moment, and hearing the alerts at the altitudes that matter. A dirt dive is the rehearsal you walk through before a jump. This is that rehearsal, on a dial. It measures nothing. There is no barometer and no GPS; every altitude on the dial is computed from a descent profile. Never use it on a jump, and never in place of a real, certified altimeter. The alert altitudes that ship are simulation defaults, not procedural advice: your real altitudes come from your training, your dropzone and your instructor. FEATURES • A whole simulated jump on an analogue dial, from the exit altitude down to the landing, with a digital readout and one word for each phase: Exit, Freefall, Pull, Canopy, Landed • Feet and metres, each with its own dial face, scale and markings, as two real instruments would have • Exit altitude you set yourself (14,000 ft, 4,000 m, anything your dropzone flies to) by dragging the ruler on the edge of the screen • Four audible alerts, each at an altitude you set on a slider, each with its own tone and a buzz: breakoff (for example 5,500 ft), pull (3,500 ft), hard deck (2,000 ft) and canopy check (1,000 ft) • Fall rate by body position: belly, tracking, sit fly and head down, so a fast freefly profile rings its alerts at the right moment • Opening altitude and canopy descent rate on sliders, and the alerts are evaluated over every foot crossed, so a fast profile never skips one • Surprise mode: the dive starts at a random moment, so you have to watch the dial instead of counting • Saved profiles for the jumps you actually do, one tap away • A log of every simulated dive: the altitude, the position, the time from exit to ground, the four phases as a strip, practices this week and days practised FOR WHOM AFF students between jumps, licensed jumpers coming back after a winter, coaches showing what a hard deck looks like, and anyone who wants the altimeter habit to be automatic before it has to be. ON YOUR PHONE, FULL STOP No account, no login, no server of ours. Everything lives on the device and can be deleted in one tap. Works offline. Day and night themes. Five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German. Dirt Dive is free with ads: a banner on the setup, log and settings screens, and now and then a full-screen ad after a dive. Never during one.
