Route assistance

When using the “best route” feature, either in the app or on the website, why on earth does it default to DRIVING directions and not cycling? The very first route I attempted to find suggested I get onto I5. NO!! Also, when entering addresses in the search field, San Diego addresses should get some kind of priority in the list instead of relying on Google maps’ priorities.
