Response from developer

More info on write support is available here: https://disk-decipher.app/write-support/#storage-provider Dropbox (used as remote disk) never had write support, due to API limitations. pCloud used to have write support, but pCloud removed that capability from their API in 2025, more info on that here: https://disk-decipher.app/remote-storage/#pcloud You might want to install the Dropbox app and access your disk as Linked Disk, as described in this example: https://disk-decipher.app/disk-types/#example That will allow write access.

One of my favorite apps

It will be greater if it has built in slideshow functionality.

Response from developer

We fixed a crash reported on iOS 16 in version 6.4.9. Please update your app and retry. If the issue persists then please report the crash as described here: https://disk-decipher.app/contact/#crash-report

The best by far

The best disk/volume encryption solution for iOS. The developer is very engaged and responsive.

Thanks

This is so cool

Hidden Purchase

It doesn’t tell you before you buy the app that once you buy the app, if you want to write anything to your encrypted volume you have to pay to unlock filesystems.

I added one more star because I found if I expand the information there is text that explains file systems are an extra purchase, but there is no information to make a decision such as cost. In Australia it is $12 AUD to unlock all the filesystems.

Response from developer

The cost information is available on the App Store in the usual place: just expand the "In-App Purchases" section and the exact amount will be shown. As this amount depends on currency/location, we cannot include it in the app description. Note that the support site has more details on this subject: https://disk-decipher.app/filesystems/

Works but…..

I had some issues at first but got it to work however when I went to disk-decipher.app/contact for help there is no way to contact anyone. I don’t want to have to join Reddit just to get help. If someone needs help we should have access to a valid contact.

Allows encryption across platforms

Fantastic app, allows me to access my encrypted Veracrypt (Truecrypt) files from my Mac and PC on my iPad and iPhone. Use it for storing sensitive files, photo’s, video, etc.. Features like Exclude from Backup and Linked image (i.e. link to a cloud file) make this program outstanding value. Have been using it for years, Highly Recommend.

The best

The best tool for encrypt volume containers

Hidden costs!

After paying $1 (CAD), I was disappointed to learn that it’s another $4 for write support for either APFS or MacOS Exten formats on a sparsebundle, or $10 for many formats. (Rounding up a cent for simplicity.) Should have been transparent about that ahead of time. If I don’t return it, I’ll play with it more and update my rating.

Thanks for raising this Joe. We will improve this on releasing the next update, adding this line to the App Store description: exFAT and write support for HFS, APFS and NTFS are offered as optional in-app purchases to cover patent and licensing royalties. Note that the support site has more details on this subject: https://disk-decipher.app/filesystems/

Add Proton Drive Support

Hi could you please add proton drive support please. Other than that app works great.

Response from developer

Proton Drive does not have an official API yet, so that makes it impossible to integrate like other cloud storage. What works today: Installing the Proton Drive app (which you probably already did) and then add a container as Linked Disk (just browse to Proton Drive when prompted). A great mobile app

So, I have been using Disk Decipher or the past two and a half years.
As my job required encrypted data, we were using encrypted disks on PC, because nothing like a mobile app was available.
Then came Disk Decipher, an app on mobile that helped get our encrypted data on the go.
I used it, I liked it, I loved it. The developer is great, always updating and improving the app.
I got my (almost) whole company using the app.

Keep doing the best work, we will always support you.

Minor Networking Bugs & Creating Disks

When it asks me to sign into my Google or Microsoft account.

On Google it will log in but it won’t save. The Google login will keep asking me to login and I can’t create a disk on Google Drive.

The Microsoft Account won’t even load the login page. I’m not sure if it’s because I went password less for that account and Disk Decipher needs updated networking code to work with that?

Super , weiter so

Hallo , finde die App super und hoffe das noch viele neue Funktionen kommen werden.

Klasse ist das sogar Untertitel im Video erkannt werden 👌.

Aber Mehr Video Formate wäre super

Response from developer

Thanks. To use non-native video formats you can install the companion app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/media-list-player/id6737306774 which allows Disk Decipher to play almost any video format without leaving the app.

Files disappear

I created two containers on my iPad and loaded them up with about 5 GB each. The limit appears to be 9 GB. It will not create a container any larger than that. Everything went well, I loaded up the files and everything was accessible. I dismounted the disc and when I came backto open it the next day 90% of the files were not there. This program also will not work with a USB. It will not create a container at all. I found this program useless for my needs

Response from developer

Please contact us (https://disk-decipher.app/contact/) by opening an issue or sending an email so we can investigate your setup. There are no size limits (TBs of data is fine), any changes are committed to storage immediately. To use with USB, make sure the USB disk is formatted, after that you should be able to create a Linked container on the USB disk.

Great Little App

This is a great little app. Does exactly what it says. Opens .dmg files on my iPhone and iPad. This means I can carry locked, confidential files with me and I know they are secure. Well worth the asking price of 99p.

A great app I didn’t know I needed

I’ve recently been consolidating my various pots of online storage to Filen and have some VeraCrypt archives on my NAS which I’ve just moved across. Previously I could only access these from home or via a pretty convoluted route of my VPN and Remote Desktop access. With this app I can now access them directly from my phone which makes it much easier to keep my files secure whilst still being accessible. Brilliant!
