Perfect for the rink

This app is absolutely perfect for the ice rink. It does a fantastic job of filling those quiet spots between puck drops and during period breaks. It really levels up the atmosphere and helps both the kids and adults stay engaged and energized. Highly recommend!

Response from developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback on your experience this season with the app. Note that the latest version should now prevent the phone to go into sleep when you are on the main music button screen.

Good app but can we have easier page access?

I’ve been using the app for a few years now and, overall, I really like the app. However, is there a way to make accessing a page easier? I’m thinking if you made a row of numbers across the top (or side…wherever it could fit best) of the page that could be selected to go to that particular page number. The scrolling of pages takes a bit of time especially with many pages (I’m up to 18 pages now). Directly selecting a page would make things so much easier!

The only other suggestion I have is if there were to be a way to make the selection of the exact time of the song a bit more easy. There are instances in which I can choose, for example, :50.8 but I can’t get :50.6; it skips around the number I need. Minor things but making some things easier within the app will make it a no-brainer for game day in my opinion.

Merci beaucoup for your work on this over the years!

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Your suggestions are great. I will see how I can make it fit in another release. Did you know that you could swipe left or right to change the pages of buttons? I thought I fixed the decimal point on the start time selection. I will check again. In the meantime Enjoy the games :-) have fun with the app.

Terrible

Very poorly laid out. Once you buy the app you need to keep buying stuff to make it work. Not user friendly at all. Still trying to figure out how to play music from my playlist throw it.

Response from developer

I am sorry that you feel that way about the app. If you have issue using it, here is a series of videos to learn how you can use it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdx8eTOruEU&list=PLRfeQ9eFMmwl1-2KqoAoV6uuZ0FpW_MqG&index=2 . If you don't like the app, you can still request for a refund following Apple process.

Ripoff

Don’t buy. Won’t allow me to use Apple Music or I have to purchase more screens. What a ripoff

Response from developer

Not true. I don't understand your comment. The first 3 period screens of buttons can all be customized with your Apple Music library for quick access during the game and perfect songs start points. This gives you a 36 songs playlist with the app. Yes, you can get more buttons to increase your playlist via inApp purchases (less than a 0.1$ per button). And if you want a refund you can always follow Apple instructions for that.

Not in love with it but it’s close

Couldn’t move certain files in. Doesn’t work for me. Wouldn’t say no to a refund as it’s not what I want or need

Change the name

It is 2025 Mom’s,
Dad’s and grandparents manage the box at our children’s games

Response from developer

===Edited June 2025 === I have updated the name of the app, to be more inclusive. "Dad's" has been replaced by "Parents'". So "Ice Hockey Dad's Playlist" is now "Ice Hockey Parents' Playlist" on the AppStore. ===Orignal May answer== I fully agree with you. I will see how I can change the app name. I will tackle that on the next version. I have attempted to completely revamp the app with "Hockey Mom", but the result is not as complete and satisfying as this app. What name suggestions would you have to replace : Ice Hockey Dad's Playlist with? Please DM or email me :-).

Bugs Galore

App keeps crashing. Will not play certain songs and then crashes. Frustrating in the middle of a game.

Response from developer

Thanks for reporting it. You are right, I can see 7 crashes in the last 7 days. Let me work on it, and try to correct them. I am wondering if this is something specific with your setup. Could you please DM or email me directly, so that I can I validate with you that the bug has been connected in the next version? === updated on March 25th==== Please update the application to version 7.8 released yesterday. I have corrected 2 bugs causing crashes in certain conditions when the music song didn't have an artwork. Let me know if that does solve the crashes. DM me directly.

Does exactly what I want

I’ve been using this app for years. It’s super easy to load up your music.. you can also set the time that you want to start your music. It’s got horns built-in and you can get multiple periods. I’m set up now over the past couple years. I don’t have to mess with it.

Response from developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback . This is much appreciated :-) Please let me know if you have any suggestions for new features or if you find bugs (I am sure there could be a few, I write the app with my son, and we still have to improve :-) . You can contact me on Twitter at @IceHockeyDadDJ

Can no work with Spotify

You need to have Apple Music in order to upload your own songs. Had I know this I wouldn’t have downloaded it. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars

Response from developer

You can get refunded if you want see in previous comments how to. I had a version compatible with Spotify, but Spotify rejected the app and use of their library in production mode. I am sorry that I could not bring you this capability with the app. Currently you can select songs from your local MP3 library or from Apple iTunes Cloud Library.

This app is the cornerstone of a fantastic in game experience for fans/teams

I’ve been using this app for over a year and it delivers everything I need with ease. The app interface is easy to use and I can cue the song to 1 tenth of a second, which allows for perfect timing on selected songs/tracks. I also connect my phone through a Bluetooth receiver that is connected to the arena’s PA system. This allows me to take in the games with the other fans and nobody notices who’s the DJ! It’s meant to be simple and that it is. The author has been great with my recommendations as well 5/5!

Thanks a lot for the feedback, this is well appreciated. For those wondering about the Bluetooth receiver trick, here is a reference for such device : https://amzn.to/3WiEMk7 . Enjoy the games, as much as I do :-).

Great concept with room to improve!

Music works good, some glitches for sure. Paid for the microphone feature and didn’t work for me but was refunded accordingly.

Lots of glitches

Several songs will not play on the app. Tried messing with it but gave up and went back to iTunes.

Terrible

Can I get a refund?

Response from developer

Sure, you can. If you really want to get your purchase back, here is the link to request refund : https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084 . Could you share directly with me what I could improve? Did you purchase by mistake the application?

Expensive

I got the app later to find out that I have to spend money for more things. I tried changing the number it was 61 but now you have to pay this is just too expensive five dollars. Should be plenty for the app other than that the app was pretty cool. The organs the goal horn was all right. Everything was good just too expensive.

Response from developer

I am spending a lot of time developing and maintaining the app for the pleasure of all moms and dads at the rink (and the kids of course :-). It may seem expensive (maybe), but the features are less than your morning Starbuck coffee and you can use them forever. So just skip Starbuck 3 days in a raw (your blood sugar level will say "Thanks") and you will have activated all the features of the app.

Need something simpler

While I am sure this app can do more than I have figured out it is not user friendly enough for this hockey mom.

Doesn’t work

I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max. No matter how many time I try to program the buttons with my download music the app gets stuck on a goal song or sometimes a Pac-Man sound. Waste of $5

Great app, great customer service

I have been using the app for 2 years now and love it. I can’t imagine doing music for a hockey game without it. I have 28 pages of songs! Sure sometimes a song won’t work because Apple Music has updated the music link or removed the song from their library, but it’s a quick fix.
Also, customer service is the best. Owner of the app is passionate about making it better.
I have never left a review for an app before but I felt obligated to share my positive feedback because how much I love/need it.

Response from developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback. This means a lot to me :-) . By the way for all of you, Please note that version 7.0 is buggy and I had to revert some of my code for the main screen as several reported issued on buttons not playing anymore. So, I recommend to upgrade to 7.1 or later to regain full functionality on the playing buttons. Enjoy your next game, as I enjoy setting the ambiance at the rink :-).

Seems good

I have some suggestions tho maybe add file or Spotify support. I havnt tried this at a game but I can’t wait to

Not a good app.

After buying the app, you have to pay again and again to use most of the features within the app.

Response from developer

Chris, have. a great new year and I hear you. The main purpose of the App is to play music at the rink for the kids and set the ambiance like for an NHL game. This is answered and made available on the base app which comes 3 periods of playlist buttons that you can customize and set your perfect start time memorization for each of the 36 first music on your playlist. Then, yes, I agree the rest of extra features will be through In-app purchases, like if you want to play Penalities Announcements instead of grabbing the mic and doing them yourself, I am always shy at the rink, that's why I developed that feature for me, and those like me. Also, if you need more than 36 songs in your playlist, you can increase the number of screens via In-App options. This allows me to continue supporting and developing this app, for me and other Hockey Dads. But thanks for your feedback.

Really hard to figure out.

Not an intuitive app and lots of bugs. Wish I hadn’t purchased.

Response from developer

HockeyDad75, thanks for your feedback. First, if you wish to be refunded, simply follow the Apple Refund policy, this is very easy. See previous answers for the direct link. I wish that your comment would have been a little bit more detailed and more constructive. If there are bugs, which I constantly try to solve, please list them, or contact me directly (email or Instagram - see contact on the App or on the AppStore) for troubleshooting these bugs with you. On the intuitive aspect, if you are referring to the way you set your memorized start time for each button, I agree and I am working on a new version which should , I hope, address that issue and improve the experience of configuring the app. For the rest of the feature, looking at the number of positive comments, I believe it is helping others, like it is helping me animated games. And when constructive feedback are made, I try to incorporate them in the application, like the one I recently implemented with a "red" and "green" dot which mark the selected "ready to play" song in "red" and then the "already played" songs in "green".
