good idea - BIG flaw 😬
Great idea. I got the book and app years ago but never used….. BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TRANSLATIONS. Although many of the illustrations are self-explanatory, many are not. I’ve recently begun making screenshots to navigate through this book. I can write the translations on my screenshot, after I look them up in a dictionary. I write them on a separate layer that I can show or hide when I review the vocabulary, as desired.
If the DK designers are really dedicated to the *flawed* philosophy of not providing translations, they could at least provide them as an additional appendix in the back of the book, along with the existing ones.
NOTE ABOUT THE FLAWED PHILOSOPHY of “no translations”….. kids need translations, and DO get translations for new words in their native language as they grow up. Think about it. A baby’s first and second word might be “mommy” and “daddy”. But their third word is probably going to be “how?” And next is “why?”. And “what…???” Kids are naturally curious. And those question words will be repeated over and over and over as time goes by. Good parents will provide answers, discussion, context, and understanding as their children learn and grow.

Issue
Is blank after open the app. I am in China…
Code?
It’s asking for a code to use the app. I purchased Kindle version. Where do I find the code?
It’s been almost a year and there has been no response to my question. I would like to use this app but do not know where to find the code it is asking for to use the app.

Response from developer
We're very sorry that you have had trouble accessing the audio content for 5 Words a Day, and that you have waited such a long time for a response to your review. You don't need a code to access the audio, but you will be asked to enter the last part of the web address shown on the first page of your book on the website or app. These are the letters after the slash (eg. us or uk). If you are still having problems, please email penguinorders@tbs-ltd.co.uk with full details of the problems you are experiencing and we will try and find a solution for you.
Useful app
I downloaded the app to use alongside the ‘French for everyone junior 5 words a day’ book. The app works perfectly and provides us with the relevant pronunciations. I’m using the book and app alongside other study methods to teach my 6 year old French. So far so good 👍
Great app!
This is a great supplement app for the book! I love that my kids can listen to the audio while working in the book. I wouldn’t have bought the book without it. Thank you!
