What's New in DMF CHASE

1.3

April 7, 2026

What's New in This Version Critical Bug Fixes 1. Fixed UI Overlay Bug - Resolved the issue where the main start screen would overlay on top of gameplay after dying and retrying with ads 2. Fixed Profile Menu Not Closing - Resolved the issue where the stats/profile menu wouldn't close properly when clicking the close button Core Improvements 3. Standardized Screen Visibility System - Implemented a robust screen management system using helper functions: - hideAllScreens() - Completely hides all screens and modals - showScreen(screenId) - Shows a specific screen while hiding others - showHUD()/hideHUD() - Shows/hides game HUD elements - Ensures consistent use of display: none/display: block for proper flex container behavior 4. Improved Screen Management Flow - Fixed key game state transitions: - startGame() - Now properly hides all screens and shows HUD - endGame() - Now properly shows game-over screen via showScreen() - revivePlayer() - Now properly hides screens and shows HUD after revival - restartGameWithPowerup() - Now properly hides all screens before restart - closeProfile() - Now properly returns to appropriate screen based on game state Technical Implementation 5. Added z-index to Screens - Added z-index: 100 to .screen CSS to ensure proper layering within the flex container 6. Fixed Close Logic in closeProfile() - Improved the function to: - Always hide the profile modal first before showing any other screen - Return to the correct screen based on current game state (MENU, GAME_OVER, or just hide during PLAYING) - Eliminate race conditions where the modal might not properly hide 7. Consistent Initial State - Ensured the start-screen begins with display: block; inline styling to match its active class state Verification All changes were verified to work together to fix the specific user-reported issue: - After dying → Clicking "Powerup Retry (2 Ads)" → Watching 2 ads → Restarting game now works WITHOUT the main screen overlaying on top of gameplay - Profile menu now closes properly and returns to the appropriate screen (start-screen when in menu, game-over-screen when game is over) The fixes ensure that only one screen is ever visible at a time by using the centralized screen management helpers rather than scattered direct DOM manipulation, which was causing the overlay issues in the flex container layout.
