As a first time homebuyer, I found this app extremely helpful! It takes your unique financial situation (household income, outstanding debts, etc) and calculates what you can afford given the current interest rates. Would highly recommend!

Where was this six years ago when I was buying a home?
This app is fantastic if you're a first home buyer or or you are buying a second home. It's simple yet effective and gives you real insight. Even if you own a home now, it'll tell you your true equity minus the taxes and fees you're going to have to pay, which a lot of people overlook. Fantastic for planning, and you won't have any curveballs thrown your way.
