Collector’s Beware: Read the Fine Print
My biggest issue is the way card condition is represented. The app values cards at or above Near Mint market prices, creating the expectation that you're receiving Near Mint cards. However, when I received a card with noticeable damage and contacted support, I was told their condition standard is actually LP-NM (Lightly Played to Near Mint). Those are not the same thing, and there can be a meaningful difference in value between LP and NM. If the guarantee is LP-NM, that should be made clear before customers spend credits based on Near Mint valuations.
The second issue was inventory. After opening a mystery pack and hitting a card I specifically wanted, I expected it to ship within a reasonable time. Instead, I was later told they didn't actually have the card in stock. My options were to wait an indefinite amount of time, choose a different card, or accept a refund in DOPA credits. Those credits cannot be withdrawn as cash-they can only be spent within the platform. From a customer's perspective, that's frustrating because / paid for a mystery pack, won a specific card, and then found out it wasn't even available.
The app also has some usability issues. The tracking link never worked for me, making it difficult to follow shipments, and customer support was generally slow to respond and didn't provide solutions that addressed the underlying problems.
Overall, my experience was disappointing because of the mismatch between advertised card values and the condition standard, inventory that wasn't actually available after redemption, non-cash refunds in platform credits, broken tracking, and slow customer support. I hope DOPA improves transparency around condition and inventory, because those changes would go a long way toward building trust with collectors.
