Great idea, terrible execution

There is no game. The keyboard doesn’t work outside the app itself, it flashes onto the screen then off again. The app itself is inconsistent. I’d guess this whole project is abandoned but was left up as a money grab. As someone who with mobility issues that was really looking forward yo this i feel my money was stolen and i was scammed.

Great potential

This app is great. Don't be put off by the thought of learning something new - I'm only a day in and already able to type things albeit slowly. Some letters are already in muscle memory.

In-swipe DOESN'T WORK

I'm only at the tutorial step just after purchasing the app and it's not working!!! Don't buy this app it's not worth it

Fewer typos

This is my go-to keyboard now. It's dramatically reduced the number of typos I had with other keyboards. My only wish is that there were an option to set the three dots to a permanent position so they didn't keep moving all over the screen. I think I could double my typing speed if that were possible.

For some reason, keyboard height doesn’t work

I tried refreshing the app, deleting and reinstalling, removing and adding the keyboard, and rebooting my device, but the keyboard height still stays in place

Response from developer

Hi Rehpotsirhcz, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you reach out to contact@dotkeyboard.com we’ll be able to help you better. When reaching out, please help us understand what has happened when you resize the keyboard in settings and if you have seen that reflected in practice mode at all. Kind regards, The DOTKey Team

Great App!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed DOTKey so far! I’ve put about 7 hours into, at and I’m up to about 38 words per minute. It's becoming pretty natural to use! I’m excited to try it out on bigger projects.
My biggest issues:
1) The app is missing functionality with older devices. I have an older MacBook (2011) that can’t update beyond MacOS 10.13, and as a result, can’t get the companion app for my computer that requires a higher OS to download. And there’s no Bluetooth one-time connect feature from my iPhone to my Mac. I wish I could use this app with my older computer!

(Or maybe I just need to stop being a cheapskate and get a new computer 😂)

2) My best WPM score sometimes doesn't update when I beat it (I've scored 38WPM and it still only says I got lower than that...)

3) I wish the practice feature had a way to practice punctuation typing/capital letters/normal sentences rather than just the lowercase letters and numbers.

But beyond that, I’m extremely happy about this keyboard, and I’m excited to see where it gets me!

Best keyboard ever BUT were is arabic !

because all leters actually is in your mind not in your keyboard just like writing. . . Also please add (arabic and kurdish) thanks

So cool!

This app is super cool. I just got it and started practicing like half an hour ago and I really like it. It’s a very cool and even though it takes a bit of memorizing and practicing, I think it will definitely a better alternative to a keyboard once I get good at it.

Novel, but not ergonomically practical

It’s an interesting idea, and it’s honestly kind of fun to play with. But on an iPhone, it’s not practical to actually have your device in a position very much of the time to make this useful in actual practice.

Response from developer

Hi Ehler4, Thank you for your interest in DOTKey! We regret that your particular use case is not optimal for using DOTKey, but respectfully disagree with your assessment that it is not ergonomically practical. Whether you are holding your phone with one hand, while typing with the other - or using the Solo feature with your device laying flat as you type on your computer; DOTKey offers greater speed, comfort, and accuracy than a traditional onscreen keyboard. A great many "thumb typists" utilize two hands to both hold their phone and type, and Swype users will hold their phone with one hand while typing with the other when trying to do anything more than a sentence or two. In both of these situations users of traditional keyboards must stare at their hands and depend on auto correct to save them. DOTKey puts an end to that ridiculousness.

Does NOT work

Just recently downloaded the app to my iPhone X and it does NOT work. I am still stuck in the "tutorial" because I can't get through it without the app crashing on me.

1. Takes multiple tries for the initial calibration to complete. I have to literally tap with my three fingers multiple times until the app finally decides to recognize my three-finger tap.

2. The part where the app walks you through the 6 different gestures work great. I can type "hello" perfectly. But I can't do the three-finger swipe gesture to write a capital letter after that. Every time I try to swipe up with my three fingers, the app just goes into recalibration mode - the catch, it doesn't calibrate correctly. The dots end up overlapping each other, and after several tries of untangling them back to "normal" positions, the app gives up and crashes. When I restart the app, it's back to square one.

Devs, please fix these issues because I'd love to try this app out - but right now I am unable to do anything besides typing "hello".

Hi Adult_Jesus, We are sorry for the difficulty you are having. Can you please update to the latest version and let us know at contact@dotkeyboard.com if you are still having troubles? We are dedicated to getting you up and running. Thanks! -The DOTKey Team

Keyboard keeps crashing

I originally really liked this keyboard. It’s novel and worked very well. After yesterday’s update, however, the keyboard crashes and resets itself (no dots) after any character is entered. Meaning I have to calibrate it after each letter. It also removed the button to switch keyboards... meaning I have to go all the way into keyboard settings and REMOVE DOTKey if I just want to use my normal keyboard. Currently unusable.

Hi Utnapishtim1, We are so sorry for the troubles you were having with an earlier version of DOTKey and appreciate you raising your concerns with us! We discovered a problem with a third party library that was causing the crashing you describe. We have since removed the library and fixed the issue with the missing globe icon you pointed out. We hope you will update to version 2.1.5 and update your review and rating to let us and others know if we have managed to resolve the issue to your satisfaction. With Gratitude, -The DOTKey Team

Stuck on Step 1

The app freezes on Step 1 Tap. The Next button is greyed out. Tried numerous attempts but it keeps freezing at this step... Disappointing! I had high hopes.

Response from developer

Hi Gr8vreet, Thank you for trying DOTKey out, and we appreciate you reaching out to let us know about the issue you experienced. We are constantly striving to improve DOTKey in every way, including the onboarding process. We realize that being a totally new input method, sometimes there can be some confusion with the tutorial. We would love to be able to give you more specific help. If you send us an email at contact@dotkeyboard.com we can identify what the issue is and either iron out the confusion or fix it and get an update out ASAP. Best, The DOTKey team

Pretty dope concept

It’s a cool concept that could really revolutionize how how type, took a minute of undivided attention to get the hang out but it’s pretty cool!

i can do 14 wpm after 2 days

its realitively easy to learn. i hope it catches on and becomes univesal. i wish it had spell check.

Amazing app!

This app has truly changed the way I type! The ability to type fast on my phone is an amazing resource that I never imagined could be utilized.
One change I would like to see is to add sensitivity so the slightest touch wont set off the keyboard. Also, please make a circle-less mode so I have the options to turn off the circles(which can be distracting to the eye).
I hope to see improvements and additions to this idea! I would love to have a dedicated pad to plug into my pc(that is larger than my phone), and dotkey on the computer!

Retrnon, Thank you so much for the feedback! We love hearing how you use DOTKey and your great ideas. SPOILER ALERT we are actually working to make what you’re describing with a physical device a reality. It’ll take some time, but with your continued support we’ll get there. We are also adding some great new customization features to the look and feel (hopefully in the next couple weeks), so keep an eye out for that. That’s a great idea to be able to turn off the circles. We’ll look into that and see what we can do! As always, feel free to reach out to us directly with any specific questions or concerns at contact@dotkeyboard.com. - The DOTKey Team

Multilingual support please!

Love the revolutionary input method. Maybe add word prediction?
Personally need Japanese and Chinese mode. Or possibly detecting some specific parttens and auto changing to a language(though no keyboard can do that now I guess

Response from developer

ibafly, Thank you for your feedback, and we are very glad that you are enjoying DOTKey so far! Support for multiple languages is actually one of our top priorities we are working on right now, so thank you for validating the importance of doing that. Keep an eye out over the coming weeks and months as we add languages. If you are interested in being a beta tester for any languages before we release them to everyone, send us an email at contact@dotkeyboard.com (or tap "Contact Us" in the help section of the app). Just let us know which languages you want to help test and we can invite you as those languages become available to test. - The DOTKey Team

Great idea!

I’ve been using dot key for almost a month now. I love the concept of being able to type quickly without looking. Learning to type comes slow at first but it’s quite fun to learn, and being able to walk around with my head up while typing has made it worth the effort. I haven’t quite reached my normal texting speed yet but I’ve improved quickly by doing short practices here and there. The app is great at helping you learn. One thing I would improve is to include an auto correct that can be toggled on or off. I would also like to be able to continuously backspace without having to do repeated gestures. One gesture being held for however long would work great!

Response from developer

Thank you for the great feedback! We are so pleased to know that you are enjoying your experience so far. As far as the backspace issue goes, we definitely feel your pain! We are working on being able to hold letters down like you described, but for the mean time you can delete an entire word by swiping left (when using your right hand––swipe to the right when using your left hand) with the same fingers you use for normal backspace (ring and middle fingers). Keep an eye out for updates and thank you again for the feedback! - The DOTKey Team

Hella innovative

This keyboard is amazing and innovative. It definitely has a learning curve but once you get a hang of it, it becomes irreplaceable.

Good but one issue

Ive been using it for a short time now and am still trying to get used tp the gestures but sometimes when I am typing the black dot switches to where my ring finger should be and the gestures are flipped upside down. It slows me down and messes me up and i'm not sure what I am doing wrong

Response from developer

[UPDATE] Hi Jenn, The fix we mentioned about to take care of the issue of falsely inverting the orientation of the dots is in the most recent update. We hope it makes a big difference for you, and look forward to your feedback about it. Have a good day! - The DOTKey Team –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– [ORIGINAL] Hi Jenn, Thank you for your comment! What is most likely happening is that when making a "space" your middle finger is occasionally curved inward more than your index and ring fingers - causing DOTKey to think that you are on the other side of the device. Try extending your fingers forward a little bit more (i.e. less curl in general) and holding your wrist more parallel with the screen. This should alleviate the problem while also being more comfortable for long periods of typing. This being said - we recognize that several people are having this issue and so we plan to release a patch in the very near future to help with this. Please watch for mention of this issue in the new feature list of upcoming releases. Thanks! - The DOTKey Team

Fascinating and Fun

I have really enjoyed learning all the gestures and every time I show it to my friends they think I am really cool.
