Garbage app
The worst user experience I’ve ever had… cameras are okay, but the app to control the camera, navigate through it, and view your footage is absolutely horrible!

Good hardware / poor software
The download feature on the camera seems to be broken. I should be able to select and download a video as I want but it seems to want to do that to all videos on the SD card. It’s painfully slow and the date stamp keeps going completely wrong. Shame, as the camera itself is good and has very good battery life.

App update 5.02
No longer recognises SD card, we have two of these cameras, now both unusable.
Finally update for iPhone 17 pro
iPhone 17 pro would not connect to Ghost XL. New update does and I can change settings and format memory card but cannot see live streaming nor saved videos. Submitting support request online didn’t work so resorted to review again

Support responded to my review that I could not connect to my Ghost XL with my iPhone 17 Pro. They finally updated the app. I downloaded the update and I can connect to the camera and change settings and format the memory card which was my biggest concern.
But I cannot see the video with this latest app I just see the spinning wheel. I also cannot see any saved videos.
I tried the Support page at Drift but it doesn’t submit…

Unnecessarily complicated. Headache to set up, tiny screen that’s unreadable, too many functions that nobody will ever use. Haven’t they heard the term user friendly?

Great hardware, Ropey software.
The Drift cameras are brilliant in terms of hardware. However, the firmware and the app leave a lot to be desired. I don’t use Drift Life any more because it alters some of the settings on the camera without my knowledge. For example, after I have connected Drift Life to the camera, the camera exits HDR mode and resets to 1080p the next time I turn the camera on. Similarly, Drift Life will alter the FOV setting from 140 degrees to 90 degrees the next time I turn the camera on. I find it much less hassle to use the native menu on the camera.

Connecting issues
Brand new camera. Won’t connect to my iPhone. Last two cameras I had did to the older app. So I’ve wasted my money. Don’t buy.
Great app but not for iOS 26
After initial setup I’ve been mainly using this to format the camera until now. It doesn’t connect with iOS 26. And appears the developer has left. So don’t get rid of your old phone!
No Ghost-S Supoort
It used to support the ghost-S but this appears to have been removed for some reason. Unusable.

Terrible app
Missing files. The lead review flagged by the App Store criticises people’s problems with this app as being due to having old phones. I have a new phone and still the app loses/corrupts files after they have been identified (incorrectly) as an “event”. The camera its great, and I’ll persevere looking for a work around for better reliability.

Ok… I’ve switched off the event record function and the file storage and retrieval system is now working consistently. I’ve increased my star rating from one to three.

Poor user experience
Cannot connect the Ghost XL to Wifi so can't use the Drift app to control the Ghost XL which I need to work as the LCD on the phone is far too small to read.
Trouble with setup
I have a 2nd gen iPhone SE and the Ghost XL camera. I downloaded this app and had A LOT of trouble getting the app to work with the camera.
I was able to connect to the camera’s wifi, but could not get the app to “see” the camera. Here are the iPhone app settings for the Drift Life app that, after much trial and error, finally worked for me:
Location (while using), Photos (limited access), Local Network (on/green), Siri (all settings disabled/off), Search (all settings disabled/off), Background App Refresh (on/green), Cellular Data (off/grey).
Some of these settings probably don’t matter unless you want to use certain app functions. I suspect the Location, Photos, Location Network, and Cellular Data are the ones that matter most just to get the app to “see” the camera.
Once you get the app to see the camera, if you want to be able to view the recordings stored on the camera in the app, but you don’t see them in the library on the app. Initiate a recording on the camera for the app. This seems to get the app to find the directory on the camera’s sd card. After you end the recording, the 100MEDIA library should appear in the albums that you can review and should allow you to see all the recordings stored on the as card (all recordings, not just the one you initiated in the app). It’s a terrible app but I’m glad I finally figured out how to get it to work. Hope this helps someone.

Unable to connect
My phone doesn’t connect the camera to the app. I have done some research and found that there is a drift life 2.0 app? But only on Google store from what I’ve found?! Ridiculous, I can’t even use the cameras features.
Wifi Connection impossible
Despite help from a wifi guru, found it impossible to connect the camera to wifi.
Camera is impressive for the money, but for live streaming, I will be looking elsewhere, because the Drift XL falls well short of expectations.

PLEASANTLY SUPRISED
With the low review/rating upon purchasing this app I have been pleasantly surprised to find it with simple navigation and reliable. I use the app with the DRIFT GHOST XL PRO and very pleased with the whole package. Would definitely recommend and totally satisfied with the camera and app-WELL DONE!
