About

A private, modern driving log for learner drivers — and the parents helping them earn a license. Track supervised hours, see real-time progress against your state's requirements, and export a DMV-ready form when you're done. No accounts. No ads. No data leaves your phone. Built by a parent of a 15-year-old learner who couldn't find a driving log app that wasn't bloated with ads, gated behind a sign-up, or quietly syncing every drive to someone else's server. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Start a drive and watch the timer, speed, and distance update live. Pause and resume whenever you need. • Follow the drive from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island — a live timer keeps counting even while the phone stays locked (iOS 16.2+). • Add a home-screen widget with a progress ring toward your state's required hours, always up to date. • Optional GPS distance — turn on location and miles are calculated automatically. Coordinates are processed on-device and never stored or transmitted. • See your state's exact requirements — total hours, daytime hours, nighttime hours — with progress bars that move every time you save. All 50 US states supported, using data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. • Know your finish date — DriveMint reads your recent weekly practice pace and projects when you'll reach your state's requirement. • Night hours that hold up — nighttime driving is counted against your actual local sunset and sunrise, computed on-device, not a fixed clock time. • Add the supervisors riding with your learner (parents, guardians, instructors) and see hours logged with each one. • Missed a drive? Log it manually with full control over date, time, distance, and conditions. • Export an official DMV form when it's time to apply for the license. North Carolina DL-4A is supported out of the box; a generic form works for other states. • Share a drive between two phones using a QR code — parent logs the drive on their phone, teen scans, and it's imported instantly. No cloud, no link, no account ever touched. • Store a photo of the learner's permit for quick reference. • Back up everything — drives, supervisors, profiles — to a single file you control, and restore it on a new phone. Still no cloud, still no account. • Works on light and dark mode. Designed to be fast and quiet. PRIVACY YOU CAN ACTUALLY VERIFY DriveMint has: - No accounts, no sign-up, no login screens - No cloud storage — your driving logs stay in a local database on your phone - No analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Sentry, no Amplitude — none) - No advertising frameworks, no ad tracking - Your driving data never leaves your device The only time DriveMint connects to the internet is to process the optional DriveMint Pro purchase — handled through your app store and RevenueCat, which see the purchase and an anonymous app ID, never your driving logs. Everything else works fully offline, and the optional location permission is used on-device only. If you've used other driving log apps and wondered why a permit tracker needed your email address, your phone number, or a cloud account — you're not the only one. WHO IT'S FOR • Teens working toward a learner's permit or graduated license • Parents and guardians supervising new drivers • Driving instructors tracking multiple students • Anyone who needs to document supervised driving in a serious way DESIGNED TO ACTUALLY WORK DriveMint is built on the latest React Native and Expo SDK 54 with native performance on iPhone and iPad. Cold-launch is fast, the timer runs reliably, GPS doesn't drain your battery, and there is no loading spinner waiting on a server. STATE REQUIREMENT DISCLAIMER State requirements are sourced from IIHS and reviewed regularly. Always confirm exact rules with your state DMV before submitting any form. DriveMint is an independent app and is not affiliated with any DMV or government agency. Learn more at drivemint.ioup.io

What's New in Drive Mint DMV Permit Log

1.6.0

July 16, 2026

The biggest DriveMint update yet. • Lock Screen & Dynamic Island —start a drive and a live timer follows you to the Lock Screen, with pause state and distance right there. (iOS 16.2+) • Home-screen widget — a progress ring toward your state's required hours, refreshed automatically as you log drives. • Projected finish date — DriveMint reads your last four weeks of practice and tells you when you'll hit your state's requirement at that pace. • Real sunset night hours — nighttime driving is now counted against your actual local sunset and sunrise (computed on-device), not a fixed clock time. • Backup & restore — export all drives, supervisors, and profiles to a file you control, and bring them to a new phone. Still no cloud, still no accounts. Plus dark-mode polish, safer QR imports, more accurate GPS distance in the background, and many fixes across the app.
