This is really helpful
A great start in many languages
I want to give five stars—I’ve had this app for 8 years now. But a few things would give it all five:
1. With gendered languages, they only use one form for things, but inconsistently—sometimes masculine, sometimes feminine. If there are several patterns, you can’t determine the correct way of speaking. While you’d be understood, hopefully, it’s better to learn right the first time.
2. If you’re not 100% done with a topic, it shouldn’t say that you are. It can leave 3-5 or more words/phrases to do but tell you you’re done with a topic.
3. The dojo shouldn’t repeat words or phrases that you got right in the same session. If you have 100 words to review in a 5 minute session, repeating ones that you got right is a waste of time.

Using Ai
I stopped using Duolingo as they used ai and started using drops. Now drops uses generative ai for all of their content:(
Slow loading
App is too slow in transitions and response
GREAT APP.. BUT
I like the app, but when you are studying the animations and delays gets annoying. For example, when you finish a set, you have to click next number of times to get to the next set of questions. The next button is hidden whilst the animations on the screen appears with delays.

I miss the old app
I LOVED Drops years ago when it was simple, but now the UI is so confusing to navigate. An obscene amount of ads plus AI art… it looks cheap. A pro is that in the Korean section they do provide slightly more in depth grammar lessons now, but they were romanized??? The art to accompany the fill in the blanks was also difficult to see. I was excited to return to Drops but it seems like I’ll be finding something else to accompany my language learning.

Fun supplement with serious flaws
For expanding one’s vocabulary in a language it does ok. But it has the same weaknesses of all the other apps and a few more besides. It is also not keeping up with advances the other apps are utilizing. 1) It doesn’t seem to track real strength or progression. One will be asked to spell a phrase precisely when one has only learned to recognize the whole phrase, but can’t recall parts. Especially tough the farther the language is. 2) No speech recognition. This weak in other apps, but at least they’re trying. 3) No AI.

Gay stuff
I just want to learn Portuguese… Not to be force fed gay propaganda. I should have picked up on it when “obrigada,” the female gendered term for “thank you” was used by the wrong sex, they were going to have an agenda, which came in several lessons later. They sacrificed authenticity at the altar of wokeness. Shame.

Fun, but more medical? Audio? Chinese character writing?
Drops makes learning fun. The only thing I wish is if they had the options to let the learner record audio of the vocab and learn to write Chinese characters, all in the same gamified vibe that they have with learning words. And while they're at it, why not add a combo Greek and Latin to understand the etymology of medical terminology and heck, just more medical terminology for Cantonese? Keep up the good work!
