After selecting a video to play it asks which sound track you want to play, but there is no confirm or ok button so you are stuck at that page and never able to play the video. How is this function released? No one in your team ever used your own app?
Been using about 8 years
My husband’s been using this app for about 8 years with no issues. He will note that you need to make sure your video codecs are using .m4v or .mp4 to optimize the system resources of the NAS for best video playback on client devices.
It’s way to difficult to sign it
Maybe I js don’t understand smth Abt the app but quite genuinely actually making an account and taking all the steps to sign in was so difficult and in the end the OTP didn’t even work. U also have to download Abt 5 other apps to get this one to work not to mention using the sinology website which is awful and makes no sense. Then the thing wasn’t working bc of some “not enabled quick sign in”? Which I then went to enable as u do but on the website there is absolutely nothing abt a quick sign in or an NAS which was the other thing mentioned. The assignment thing also didn’t work. So overall I’m disappointed bc I don’t even get to look passed the login stage of the app bc it wouldn’t let me in.

Subtitle download/playback no longer works
Used to be a decent app, now unusable for me as it no longer loads or displays any subtitle tracks selected in the app. The only way I can play my media with subtitles is to use a different app and lose Google cast functionality in the process, which was my main reason for using this app.

Simple and fast
This application allows me to save my tv content and gives me a plain and simple interface to access it. It does not try to sell me anything, it fetches the metadata on its own from tmdb, it allows me to choose video, audio and subtitle tracks. It allows me to share access with family and friends with an independent user management system. This is for me the perfect media player by a long stretch.
Sure it might not have all the bells and whistles but with unsupported format, playback is sent to third party media player that supports all latest codecs.

Depuis 7.2.2 synology abandonne simplement et soudainement son application et cette fonction aux concurrents… c’est le début de la fin???!!
No longer supported :( I’m very sad.
I have been using DS Video for a good part of 1.5-2 years and loved it. But recently the DMS 7.2.2 update state it cannot be installed without deleting first but also it is unsupported. 😡! I have a library of over 650 movies and TV shows I could watch without issue on my FireStick TV. And I LOVED my computer could be off and still have access to my content. I’m currently trying Plex (I don’t like it) and VLC (it’s okay) but so far NOTHING compares to DS VIDEO to me. Please make a new version to work with the new DSM update!!!!!

Works well. But AppleTV will not show the cover images
I like this. It’s simple and works. But could you fix the bug in the AppleTV app so that it shows the cover images. iOS app works, but AppleTV app does not show the images. Thank you.

Il serait bien de pouvoir choisir de lancer la vidéo avec vlc par exemple lorsque le format n’est pas pris en charge. J’avais aussi des problème ou l’application demande de sélectionner et langue mais rien ne se passe après sélection. Pas de bouton de validation dispo.

Pretty seriously lacking
The app does what I need it to do for the most part, but one of the most frustrating things is the inability to jump forward or backward by 10 second increments, which is especially frustrating on the Apple TV version of the app. This seems like it would be an easy fix, so why hasn’t it been fixed?
Update a couple of years later:
MAN I wish Synology would bring this app into the modern era. Years later we STILL don’t have a 10/30 second skip forward/skip backward function. Not to mention the lack of Autoplay Next Episode (works on Apple TV but not on other IOS devices). It’s just so behind the times. I’m not expecting Netflix, Prime, or Paramount+ levels of refinement and functionality here, but I’d at least like to see some basics added into the app. Need to remove one of my original three stars from the rating. NEEDS SERIOUS WORK!

Synology has removed Videostation from DSM making this app worthless!
I’ve thought the library management/organization system has been poor for a while but it is pathetic that the app will not play (does not even try) videos over an encrypted connection. I am running on latest iPad Air (2024) so it is not a hardware issue. I’m also on the same network so it is not an Internet connection speed issue. As for the library, the app doesn’t even show all of the content that is in a directory or that is shown in the video station app when working on PC.
