17+ app rating makes app unusable for tweens and teens
I loved how the old app let me add all of the family cards. The kids loved to check out their books on their own cards and I could check due dates for all their checked out books from my app/phone. I was told functionality for adding family cards might be coming, but it’s been several months and it’s still not here. My tweens cannot install this app on their devices because it is restricted to 17+. I don’t want to remove those safety restrictions for their devices just for access to the library app.
As it is now, I discourage them from using their own cards because I know developmentally they can’t keep track of due dates 21 days out on top of all the other mental loads they manage.
The old app helped me scaffold due dates for them, and they felt some ownership having books on their own cards. I’m sad this app has removed this helpful skill building feature.
