About

Eagle Shelf is a private catalog for the physical books you own. It is built for people who want a clear private record of the books they actually own, not a social reading app, recommendation feed, or account-driven service. Use Eagle Shelf to: - catalog physical books you own - keep edition details separate from copy-specific details - record condition, location, notes, and reading status for each copy - scan ISBN barcodes on supported devices - use copyright-page OCR to help capture edition and printing details - see right away when a book you scan is already in your library - back up your library for safekeeping and restore - share a tidy list of your books, or a full spreadsheet of every copy Eagle Shelf is local-first. - No account is required. - No social features are included. - Your library is stored locally on your device. Eagle Shelf is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, and no account to create. When you choose ISBN metadata lookup, Eagle Shelf can fetch edition details from Open Library, and from Google Books when Open Library has no match. Lookups send the ISBN and, to Google Books, a region code (your device’s region, such as US). Like any web request, they also carry your device’s internet address and standard details such as the app version and your language. They never include your library, what you type in the shelf search, or your notes, and Eagle Shelf has no account. When you choose copyright-page scanning, the app uses on-device OCR to extract text from the photographed page. If those helpers are unavailable or do not return what you need, you can continue with manual entry. Eagle Shelf is designed for order, retrieval, and an accurate long-term record of a personal library. Whether you are managing a few shelves or a much larger collection, it gives physical books a calmer and more precise system than general reading apps provide.

What's New in Eagle Shelf

Neater titles and author names Some book lookups return titles with only the first word capitalized, or authors last name first. When you add or edit a book, Eagle Shelf now offers a one-tap fix, so "The guitar book" can become "The Guitar Book" and "Wheeler, Tom" can become "Tom Wheeler". Nothing changes unless you tap it. Clearer duplicate check "Already in Library" now says what an ISBN match means: your library has a book with that ISBN, which may be a different printing or cover than the one in your hand. It also says when a copy listed there is one you no longer have. Better printing details Copyright-page scanning recognizes more printing statements and skips lines that don't name a printing. Books filed the way a library files them Sort by author and books file under the author's last name, so F. Scott Fitzgerald is under F. Sort by title and "The", "A" and "An" are skipped, so The Great Gatsby is under G. Shared lists follow the same order. Clearer copyright-page scans Each scan result now appears once, right where you're looking. If the page prints an ISBN that doesn't check out, Eagle Shelf shows the number it read so you can compare it with the book. Larger text and VoiceOver The shelf and the add-book screen read better at the largest text sizes, and VoiceOver reads ISBNs digit by digit. Clearer search and copy status Search now says it looks through your library, finds books by their older 10-digit ISBNs, and no longer matches unrelated books when a title mixes words and numbers, like Catch-22. "Disposition" is now "Copy status", grouped into copies that are yours and ones that aren't, and the count at the top of your shelf leaves out books you no longer have. Smarter copyright-page scans When a copyright page shows a single ISBN, Eagle Shelf now fills it in exactly as printed and looks the book up, with nothing to choose. Pages that list their printing history select the latest printing. Sheet music and other items with a product barcode instead of an ISBN no longer fill the ISBN field with a number that stops you from continuing.
