About

Train your ears, not your memory. Ear Training - Modern is a free, ad-free app that helps musicians hear what they read and read what they hear. Every drill is randomized and playable in any key, so you build real listening skills instead of memorizing fixed examples. WHAT YOU'LL PRACTICE • Solfège & pitch — identify scale degrees and resolutions • Intervals — melodic and harmonic, 2nds through 7ths, ascending and descending • Triads — recognize major, minor, and the diatonic triads, including inversions • Chord progressions — hear common diatonic and major-triad movements • Melodic dictation — listen, then read the melody back on the staff HOW IT WORKS Set or hear the DO (tonic), play a drill, then tap what you heard. An animated score gauge tracks your accuracy, and a hands-free Automation mode runs round after round so you can drill with your eyes closed. WHAT'S INSIDE • Level 1 · Foundations — seven chapters covering solfège, every interval quality, triad recognition, progressions, and dictation • Level 2 · Progressions — major and diatonic triad movement • Plus bonus drills: interval & triad ID, find the DO, and all the solfège syllables BUILT FOR FOCUS • Completely free — no ads, no in-app purchases • Works fully offline — no account, no sign-in, no tracking • Real piano samples and clean music notation These exercises extend the approach of Mark Harrison's "Contemporary Eartraining" series (used with permission). Whether you're a student, singer, instrumentalist, or returning to theory, Ear Training - Modern gives you unlimited, randomized practice to sharpen your ear.

Two new reference pages, both listen-only: the Circle of 5ths/4ths, and The Five Movements between keys. Each movement is now explained as a change of key center, with the different naming conventions laid out side by side and a chord demo you can tap to hear. Level 2 Chapter 9 vocal drills now play the chords the way the book prints them: the tonic triad sounds together with each arrival, and the circle-of-5ths drills add the next key's dominant 7th between stations. A Stop button lets you end a drill whenever you've heard enough. On the interval and harmonization quizzes in Level 1 Chapters 4 through 8, the answer buttons now mirror the drills you've included, so you answer with the exact solfege pair you're practicing instead of picking a category. Dropdowns now show a small chevron, so it's clear they open. Blank Sheet Music adds alto and tenor clefs, starts with no clef selected, and shows the staves-per-page default plainly. The drill list now follows the two books chapter for chapter. Blank Sheet Music stays, in a section now called Extras. The version number is shown on the welcome screen.
