All voices sound like robots, very unnatural.
And I just found out that the paid version uses the same terrible voices! I’m so glad I didn’t pay for it!

When I originally released this I was thinking people were going to use it for long-form things like .epub books and whatnot so I did it that way .. anyways now that it seems a lot of people want to use it for shorter phrases I plan on implementing the same thing I did for Android to reduce the ads for short phrases .. my current issue is getting the project working in Xcode again after all these months because there is an issue with the Podfiles and I spent a while trying to fix it this weekend but I still need to figure it out (switching the code is easy but the Podfile stuff is 😩) .. anyways just stay tuned and eventually I will get that update out there so you have a better experience!

Update: Received a response from developer, why they didn’t post it here is a bit fishy I think. In response I’m being accused being competitor or computer. That I dint appreciate the Mac voices. I use a Mac why would I have anything against it? Tried responding to developer and nothing. There is no report a problem button, their web page is a dead link, nothing I can find works for this app as far getting someone. Also I noticed that my review didn’t become part of their reviews which leads me to believe they omit reviews they don’t like. The following is what the app did to a pdf of mine after changing the voice.

If the developer would give me some real way of contact I will send them screen shot. I would real weary of buying something from someone that give no means of contacting them

This review seems like it’s from a competitor or something.. I have never experienced it replacing letters with @ nor have I heard of anyone else having that issue and to say it sounds like garbage means they don’t appreciate the Mac voices from Apple that I’ve been showing off on TikTok (btw find me on TikTok by searching “Easy Text to Speech Reader”!)

For anyone worried about the ads I am using 1/2 of what Musi did in their app. Eventually it will show an ad every other time you press “Start Speaking” but the audio from your TTS will play and the ad will be muted (so you can hear your audio). Anyways I was always a fan of Musi and they did that every-time you hit “Play” (or you could purchase their ad-free version for $6 like mine but also my ad-free/pro version also lets you export your TTS to an audio file with one tap and easily share it anywhere or save it)
