About

êkhos is a stereoscopic audiovisual work you hold in your hands — a single, slowly turning orb of granular noise, suspended in black and rendered in 3D. On iPhone, iPad and Mac it plays in anaglyph 3D: classic red-cyan stereoscopy. Put on a pair of red-cyan glasses and the orb lifts off the screen into real depth — strands of light drifting toward you and away, the echo made dimensional. THE WORK êkhos takes its name from the ancient Greek word for resonance — the echo as a thing in itself, rather than an effect. The title, )))echo~echo(((, also reads as noizu — ノイズ, Japanese for noise. The piece sits exactly there: between the echo and the noise, between a sound and the residue it leaves behind. THE DUO êkhos is the work of Mariusz Szypura and Paweł Krawczyk — a long-running guitar and ambient duo. Their music is built from prepared guitars, granular textures, field recordings and slow-moving harmonic clouds: long-form pieces that drift rather than progress. Here that sound is paired with stereoscopic image, so depth itself becomes part of the composition. THE INSTALLATION êkhos was presented at Lincoln Center during Unsound Festival NYC, 2024, as an anaglyph stereoscopy A/V installation. This app brings that installation home: the same prepared-guitar drones and the same drifting visual depth, now on your own screen. HOW TO WATCH • Bring red-cyan (anaglyph) 3D glasses — the inexpensive cardboard kind work perfectly. • Find a dark room and turn the volume up; the piece lives in low light and long duration. • Tap to play. The controls fade away and leave you with the orb. TUNE THE DEPTH TO YOUR EYES The player decomposes the stereoscopic image live, so you can shape the 3D to your own eyes and glasses while the film plays: • DEPTH — shifts the stereo convergence plane in real time: pull the orb out in front of the screen, or push it back behind it. • TINT — calibrates the red-cyan balance to your particular pair of glasses, for a clean, ghost-free image. • 3D / 2D — no glasses at hand? Switch to 2D and watch the film as a flat, luminous monochrome sphere. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No tracking. No ads. The film is bundled inside the app and plays fully offline. êkhos is also available on Apple Vision Pro as a true Spatial Video, with real stereoscopic depth and no glasses required. On every screen it is the same idea: an echo you can step inside. Released on Black Element Label.
